I have often wondered what it would be like to be aboard Secretariat coming down a back stretch
or
Get to run Scamper around a set of barrels at the NFR finals |

Just can't remember the name of one black horse that went to the NFR for a few years around 06? Love, love that horse. Funny? I am having a total mental blank about the riders name too. Her kids used to put stickers on her hands before the rounds. |

| There are probably a bunch that would be amazing to get on Scamper, Stingray and a long list of others I am sure. I did get to ride a mare who unofficially broke a world record at 220 yards, she was a blast to ride . |

ETA - Rugged Lark. Would love to try to ride that horse. I don't know why, just always have had a love affair with him.

| My old rodeo mare, in her prime, rolling down the alleyway, in to the Thomas and Mack complete with it's normal trashy, hard ground.
And since I am dreaming, I am 15 to 20 lbs lighter!
She would have been awesome in that pen. And she was/is so honest and gritty that I would take her over any of those NFR greats. She ran her heart out....for me. |

Also would LOVE to cut a cow on Highbrow Cat back in his prime. (Complete with velcro seat/pants)

Hawk, Stingray, Slider, Louie, Scott, Fiesta, Dolly, there is another horse that ran one year and I cannot think of its name, but he looked fun to ride.. And my horse from long ago. :(
Love to take Gunner for a spin in the reining pen.
My main dream is me and my horse running down the alley in the T&M! Maybe one day. |

I also would have, in my younger days, liked to have tried eventing. Also, as long as we are dreaming, I also would like to drive a top fueler in drag racing...Me & Shirley Muldowney... |

| Poco Lena and Seattle Slew. Poco Lena was a champion cutting mare as well as the dam of Doc O Lena and Dry Doc. Her last owner to compete on her, B.A. Skipper, had a seat belt on his saddle in order to stay on her. |

| High Brow Cat in the cutting pen.
Scamper, Martha, Stingray, or Latte on barrels.
Big Ben over Fences.
Rugged Lark bridleless. My barrel horse is a grandson of Rugged Lark and he's the most senstitive horse I've ever thrown a leg over... That, and his hilarious personality make me so curious about what Rugged Lark was like in his day!

That was Denise Adams and Fun Jet. She was a brown mare by Jet Of Honor. Densie ran her in 04 & 05. She borrowed some of Jud Little's horses for 06. Gloria Freeman ran a black gelding in 00 and 01. |

When you have that much of a bond and trust with a horse I don't think it would phase you as much as you might think. Now if you just jumped on and that happened - different story! When I was much younger, I had a "Scamper" run where my bridle fell off, but my horse was an ol'faithful type and really proved how he didn't need a bridle. I was also more fearless in jr rodeos. When he felt me ease off finishing the run we coasted to a stop. Everyone around me was freaking out a bit, but I wasn't. |

I Really Love Jeans
Posts: 3173
Location: North Dakota | I would love to have the mare I rode when I was a kid. She ran for 12 years before I retired her. She was definately in her late 20's or more when she died of heart failure. She was an ugly GRADE mare but she NEVER took a lame step in her life. She was ridden 7 days a week 365 days a year and could go and make multiple runs and never slow down. The only time she needed a vet was for yearly shots! I don't think they even breed horses that stay sound anymore! She is my dream horse that I compare everything to and have yet to find another like her! |
