I used to pony racehorses and used that alot so you didn't have to mess with undoing a snap of a leadrope. |

| I won't pretend to know much more about most of these horses than the latest issue of BH News taught me, but that horse definately stood out! What a cool horse! Love watching these gals run, I just wish it wasn't over in the blink of an eye. How are you supposed to analyze their runs, see what they are wearing, what their gear looks like, etc in 13 seconds! I will say I need to watch runs like this all winter so I can try to learn to hustle a horse! |

I have to agree! I can't forsee it getting any better. I think it will just go down hill! she is wicked awesome but I would hate to take that chance not only with my legs and knee caps but with everyone else and their horses!!! That is completely dangerous. Tough call for Syndi but I am sure we all know what she will do considering the run she had last night and it sure wasn't pretty. |

When the camera switched to her as the girl before ran out, I thought the horse looked really really calm. The craziness didn't start until she moved up those last few feet and made the move into the other alley. I guarantee any of my horses would be a handful in that alley! |

Whatever contraption that they had on her head was also up around her eyes by the time she got to third...and yes that piece of rope was swinging in the air. I would think that would be a distraction....but she was certainly "wickedly" FAST ! ! ! |

What a great job Sid's husband did holding "sister" in the holding area. Fractious horses much like Sister may need a little help from a rig and she got just that. She has come a long way folks. |

I personally watched them beat Scamper in the chest with a whip while backing him into the gate at a rodeo in Poway, California many, many moons ago. It was a way offset gate and as soon as she got in and spun him around he took off from there which was a long angled awkward run to the right barrel but, she won it so..... Her trailer had 3 or 4 years as World Champ painted on it at that time.
It was just one rodeo out of 34839733085738, maybe it was the only time that happened. |

| If I had been on Twisted Sister last night I'd still be sitting in the alleyway trying to clean up my britches. Wicked fast horse. That rearing stuff is not for me though. Most impressed with Sherry and Stingray last night - bottom of the ground, last out, and while the mare had decent 1st and 2nd barrels she had an absolutely smoking 3rd barrel - that's where she won it. Awesome barrel racing all the way around. Can't wait for the next 9 rounds! |

Its not like she was trying to get the flock out of there, she wanted to hunt down a can!
CJ made the comment at a clinic I was at that her biggest fear was Scamper was going to take off before it was his turn and take off with another horse in the pen.
Thanks for the input 1l2r! Maybe I was fed beans. LOL |

| Pure Victory Dash won the BFA Futurity not the juvenile it's at the same place but they are different ages when they run in those events! She was 4 and won it when it was her last futurity! Also her first baby IRA Grand Victory won 2 slot races this year for over $200,000! She is a wicked mare and so are her babies!!! I think they handled her well in the alley some horses just get more fired up the girls waiting on their turn can just stay back there until she goes in! I have seen much worse out there! |

On the issue of her being bad in the alley, I actually thought they handled it quite well. Sydni stayed off of her until it was time for her to go and it seemed to me as though the mare was rather well behaved until that point. I certainly seen several other horses that girls have run repeatedly through the years come into the alley in much the same fashion.

Thank you for correcting my mistake. Not sure why I had it in my mind that she had won the Huck instead of the Futurity . |

Can you imagine what she is going to run with out the rope or what ever it was half way across her face thru the run??? THIS is gonna be fun! |

I'm guessing because IRA GRand Victory, her daughter, won the slot race at the BFA last year and that is for juvenile horses. |

Pure Victory Dash won the Futurity in 2008, FM Radio was second. Boogie Woogie Jones and Angie Meadors won the Juvenile that year. Angie Grandprie also won the BBR Finals earlier that year on Pure Victory Dash. She was sold through the Heritage place sale in 2010 for $50,000. http://www.heritageplace.com/sales_2010/Winter2010/HighestSellingBroodmare.pdf |

Hard to say because they don't set the pattern exactly the same every year. Even in the WPRA official media guide they acknowledge that the pattern was different in certain years. The fastest time run in the T&M is Calree Pierce and a 13.46.

Not me! That's dangerous not only to Sydni but to the other ladies, horses, and people down there in the alley. She definitely can do it, but absolutely would not be worth it to me to deal with that crap in the alley. Too many out there that you DON'T have to deal with that. I can handle on the muscle, but that crap is outright dangerous. JMO
Too many out there you don't have to deal with that??? How many of these in your opinion could run against these NFR horses??? Yeah since they are SOOO common lol |

I noticed that too; if you look where they were spooking you can see a yellow edge sticking out of a panel, so I'm guessing it was a sign of some sort. They need to take it down!
If Mary wasn't such a hand she would've been in trouble, Latte shied sideways pretty hard. |

Yep, I agree with labarrelrcr. In Mike Copeman's still photo - it just looks like a "bonnet" -- AND, it's probably just there to help the "handler in the alleyway" ! http://copemanphoto.smugmug.com/2013Rodeos/NFR-2013/NFR-13-1st-perf... |

Like I said, I don't mind one being on the muscle, in fact I prefer it, but I refuse to put myself or anyone else at risk for the sake of a dollar. Duke has always been on the muscle as well as several others through the years, and that's to be expected. But one that rears straight up with all that back there, coming through an overhead walk through gate.....no thanks. She's a helluva talented mare, and obviously there are lots of people who are willing to risk their safety along with the safety of others in the tunnel/warm up pen/etc., but not me. I have seen plenty of horses be on the muscle wihtout being dangerous.....and yes, some are even worthy of a trip down the tunnel and the T & M believe it or not.

| Well Syd's dad does have some very nice racehorses. I figured they were trying something similar to a flipping halter but modified for a barrel horse...and around the neck. I find it funny how everyone watches one run and we all think we know those horses. Last year everyone complained how wild Rascal was. The NFR showed him at his worst and he really is not a wild gate fighting horse. The horse I would NEVER go in an alleyway with is Duke. That sucker is awful. Funny how no one has really seen that while watching the NFR. My daughter had the misfortune of drawing up with Duke twice. Brit screams and yells at everyone to help her but no one wants to be run over or tapped on top of the head by him. |

Location: Bandera, TX | SKM - 2013-12-06 7:22 PM Well Syd's dad does have some very nice racehorses.
SKM, your right. Its minus the ring. Much like a warbridle with a very short leader on the end. We would attach a breakaway honda to a top mounted ring on the bad horses I used to work. I'm way past working those types anymore! Have one with a Woodbridge in her belly cause of her antics. That horse has come such a long ways since SA a couple of years ago. Syd has given her the chance that so many others wouldn't think of. We all know the risks and I pray that they both remain safe. |

Cant understand why people are saying they wouldnt run her...if i had a mare of that caliber hell id be alright hanging over her neck the entire run if it was in the T&M.

Looks like a hand made rope halter........ agree to help hold her in the alley.....seems like they had a rope threaded through it and let slip out as she ran out....... |

Yes it looked like Twisted Sister. I'm kind of surprised they allowed her to have both horses in there especially with the way Sister can get hot in the alley? |

I wondered if she had them both and changed which horse she was riding in the alley? Maybe they were trying to keep her calm with the buckskin as a buddy? |

That could be. I thought there was one time I saw a rider on the ground doing something in that back alley. Maybe that was her and she decided to get on Clancy. She needs to get back on Sister. Clancy isn't clocking. |

| I hope she runs Clancy again, he is so nice. I think he will get better with more runs. I don't think last nights run should be considered as not clocking but that's just me. But both horses are super nice and she is a great jockey! |

We've got a bunch of old NFR DVD's from Oklahoma city years and there's a bunch of coats like that in those films.....in the arena! The constants were allowed to stand on the arena floor and they look like a herd of pimps! Red, green, pink pants and matching vests, chinchilla full length coats, etc. I think the stagecoach driver is just trying to bring back the style :) |

I can handle on the muscle, but that crap is outright dangerous. JMO Too many out there you don't have to deal with that??? How many of these in your opinion could run against these NFR horses??? Yeah since they are SOOO common lol IDK, on like t he other 14 horses. And i'm sure there might be onnnnnnnne more out there that won't try to kill you in the tunnel. Rascal went up in the alley last year... js
He sure was a handfull |

Exactly, we saw her go one time! I would not judge her off of that one time, I have seen horses alot worse than her. I much rather have one like her than one that refuses, I always cringe when I see horses refuse to go in.

Perhaps so... I'm sure there is a Reason they call her Twisted Sister... We've all had to deal with mares... We all know they have female problems on a scale comparable to their size. Personally I like them, if only because they are the only ones that can make a baby horse from scratch.. (and baby horses are the kewlest things in the world) |

I agree it does not. However any horse that rears to that extent is what I consider a mental midget. Regardless of the circumstances. I know of too many people that were killed from just that and therefore my tolerance is pretty low in regards to rearing.
I'm a huge fan of mares and I do not think being a mare is the issue at hand. She looks great in the video but there again she required assistance from someone else horseback. If you review day 3 of finals you can see she is in the back of the alley heart distraught and the man handling her has her hands full. After Blanchard runs you see her led down in front of Shada.
No disrespect intended I just tend to be blunt. The mare is 100xs more "bothered" than any of the other horses. Which brings me to form my opinion of her. Its OK for some to love her and it OK for others to not. That's what's so great about good ole America , right? |

I've seen horses act 10x worse then Sister in this video at jack pots, needing a buddy horse, rearing, spinning etc... and some if not most aren't even getting close to a check in the 1D. Most on here say "As long as they get me to the NFR I will deal with it."
By looking at this video and seeing how she acted at the NFR, my guess is she just can't handle the excitement of the T&M, she is naturally pumped up and ready to go and it is just too much for her. I think if Sydni was used to that behavior from Sister she wouldn't have switched to the "slower", calmer horse, she would have taken her chances with the wicked fast Sister because that is just something she "had to deal with".
Sounds to me like the extreme behavior in the alley of the T&M is not normal behavior.
I may be way off. I have never seen her run other then the video posted and the first round, but that is my guess by how it played out. |

Instead of being intolerant of rearing.. I think you should step back and ask, WHY did the horse rear?
So many people here think horses reared because they have the capability of reason.. That's BS!
Get off your butts and learn about "INSTINCT"! Then use that as your base for training and understanding a horse.. |

| I think it may suit some of these posters to look at past nfr videos. She's not the first to go in in that manor and not nearly as much was said. I know mighty man, one of my favorites did very similar circus acts. If they feel comfortable, i trust their judgement. Obviously she's working Clancy for now but if she switches, i won't be disappointed one way or another. |

Said when she's ready she's ready and if you hold her or tweak her after that she will go up. Anyone know name or horse ( I'm drawing a blank)? There's a clip of it on that video. |

Truth? You don't know ANY horse seeing it run ONE time.
The NFR sure brings the Idiot out in people and sure does show the people that should and shouldn't be giving advice out on a public forum. |

| If you have ever rodeo d much you would realize that the type of alley setup that is at the NFR just doesn't work for some horses. She probably had an inkling going in that she would be like that, and then went to plan B. Doesn't mean that the horse is a dink, just not her thing! |

I got so excited when they said she was riding her last night and then she came out on Clancy......my little bubble burst lol....... (pretend these little bath bubbles are bursting :) |

| I would love to see her run again. IMO she can shut the clock off!
You want a horse that can clock even after major mistakes!
As far as her in the alley...here are my thoughts:
I have never ridden the horse, been around the horse, schooled the horse....nothing.
How can one make a fair assessment if you have not done any of those things? IMO-you can't!
Hope to see her again!

| My biggest hope each night is to see that mare run again. The way she acted in the alley doesn't scare me near as much as her speed...I bet she'd leave somebody at a barrel in the blink of an eye pretty easily. |

If so, I can see why she chose to stay on him. I would ride my main mount too. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to see Twisted Sister but I can appreciate wanting to stay on your main horse for the NFR. |

We have a gelding that can be a handful when we have to enter from a side gate & get lined up to run. He works much better at the gate when it is a "straight" run in. So this just made me wonder about TS.

Yes, Clancy won probably 80 percent or more of her money! |

that's fine but Clancy hasn't shown that he can get it done at the T&M either.....by about .2-.4
maybe some small change can get it there because he doesn't look comfortable from about 10 feet before the 1st and 2nd barrel until he is lined up coming out...
idk... |

CJ has always talked about how Scamper was a handful only because he WANTED to run which looked no different to me than Sister did last night. Its not like she was trying to get the flock out of there, she wanted to hunt down a can!
CJ made the comment at a clinic I was at that her biggest fear was Scamper was going to take off before it was his turn and take off with another horse in the pen.
Yep. I think I remember an old story that because of an odd set up, Scamper took off too soon, ran into a cement wall, knocked himself down. Got up, made the turn he should have made, ran in the gate and won the rodeo. Tough sonofagun. |

| In the video of the outdoor pen, TS just looked anxious and was ready to go, but completely controllable, not refusing to go. I think the tunnel at T&M makes her claustrophobic, plus the tight quarters and other horses jammed up against her. I feel sorry for that mare because of all the people on here calling her crazy. I don't think she's crazy, her nerves obviously can't handle too much. Not that I would desire to own or ride one that fractious, but you have to accept them as they are. Think about it- we are asking a WILD animal to do all sorts of unnatural things, just by letting us get on their backs!! I hope Sydni can run a few more rounds on her.
this got me to wondering, are they allowed to "school" their horses and ride the tunnel during the day while nothing is going on? |

Yes, and she is like this all the time. Brenda has seen her snubbed to another horse until time for her run and then Sydni climb on and go. You can't have another horse with you in the alley, and was suprised to see TS in there the other night, unless Sydni made a last minute horse change and then they couldn't get TS out of there. Grounds for a fine, but don't know the circumstances so don't know if that happened or not. |

| she is super fast, but a handful at the gate and has always been this way, I could be wrong but I don't think you will see her run again there. Barry Bader is the one who has been working with her and he is there to help her get in but he had his hands full he had a leather line run though the neck rope like the do when they load race horses and just let go of one end of the leather so it came off and just left the neck rope. I just dont want to see anyone get hurt. I know that Clancy hadn't been clocking lately but he is the one she rode at most rodeos, she did run Victory AKA "twisted sister" at a lot of the indoor rodeos. I'm sure there is a fine for having them both in the alley the other night. I sure thought Clancy looked a lot better last night, cleaned up his turns, I bet he gets faster.

Do they have "alley bosses" like they have the "chute bosses" that make sure the rodeo keeps moving along? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would guess they want you mounted on your horse while you are waiting in the alley. Since Sydni walked her all the way down and didn't get on until Trula was running, I would guess the "alley boss" didn't really like that so much and said you have to be mounted or you can't run her or face a fine?? |

I just love how people think they "know" a horse based on seeing it ONE time at ONE run. Then they call it names, say it's unsafe and act all knowing.
Truth? You don't know ANY horse seeing it run ONE time.
The NFR sure brings the Idiot out in people and sure does show the people that should and shouldn't be giving advice out on a public forum.
I'm assuming this was directed at me. First off you have no idea who I am or what I do , have done or have seen. Secondly, seeing 14 horses that are controlled without issues and not rearing straight up and taking off out of control is quiet enough to to see the true horse. As we know you see the true horse when its under pressure. She can't handle the pressure without losing her scrupples. And I was not giving advice I was giving my opinion which obviously some people cannot handle if it is different than there own. To throw accolades at a horse that is acting like a screw is a total disrespect to those that are keeping their composure in the alley. |

I am not sure why they would have a problem with her not being on the horse, look at all the ropers and doggers a lot of them wait till last minute to get on because they are watching the start. I will say though when sister came up the alley being led in front of Shada, then they showed Trevor on the camera screen he looked kind of P.O.ed but not sure if he could even see what was going on. I thought that was kind of rude to hold up Shada like that, I am thinking she run her again when she is towards the beginning so she doesn't have to sit in the alley for a long time. |

Some people are really getting happy with the dislike button. The other day I made the comment to htbrlvr because he was complaining of seeing the same commercials over and over. I just said I was happy that they didn't have the Viagra commercials they kept running a few years ago when it was on ESPN. I got a dislike! WTH? Oh well |

I thought too that it was a no no to have another horse in the tunnel. Thanks for the inside scoop! |

Location: Pacific Northwest | I like this mare too and have been hoping Sydni would jump back on her (: I think the set up at the T&M puts some horses over the edge, especially if they're already hot like Twisted Sister. My mare that I run right now would probably behave about the same way in that place. Sometimes being close to the gate makes her act like a dink as it gets closer to our turn, which is why at barrel races I avoid it. Thankfully I will probably never make the NFR so I don't have to worry about what I would do with her in the alley of the T&M haha. |

It wasn't me.....I thought that was hilarious! I don't pay attention to those "like" and "dislike" buttons, but it's funny when someone gets all bent out of shape over them. I deliberately hit "dislike" on Clay's posts one time and he went ballistic trying to figure out who it was.....then I was told he was told by a moderator that I was the one "pushing his buttons" and he hasn't said a word to me since! |

That's why I call him that. Its about like when you want to yell at your kids and you stutter through all kids, brothers, nephews, dogs, horses......and you can't get the name of the child you want to beat, they start giggling and you either get madder or start laughing yourself. I can never remember how to spell Docs name either so sometimes I just refer to him as Dr Hotty Pants. |

Alphabet man you're going to pay! From here on out he will now be referred to as alphabet man because I know how to spell that. Dislike away I ain't skert.
That's when my mom would yell out "you know who you are get over here" I'm sure Dr. Hotty pants loves his nickname. I still can't say the alphabet without singing it. I would never pass a DUI checkpoint test.

This gives a bigger insight for sure. It takes a lot to sit with that hard of a take off if it can even be sat with. I just went back and watched the lunge and Sydni got slammed fairly hard against the back of the saddle. If she still has some lingering nerve pain it may not be worth it for her to take that kind of hit multiple nights and risk not being able to ride the entire 10 rounds. I watched a video of her on YouTube running another horse and noticed when she went to stop she really pushed into the horn to keep from popping up. That's a tough tough injury to deal with regardless much less as a rider. |

Poor thing, a broken tailbone is really hard on you, I broke mine years ago and I still have numbness in my one leg if I sit to long. I knew that there was a reason behind her not rideing Sister and this could very well be one of them. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | Clancy obviously isn't doing it. IMO she needs to switch. I'm also going to take a leap and say Jean Winters needs to get on Annie. Annie's nice and what Jean's doing now isn't working. JMO |

Location: Louisiana | pinx05 - 2013-12-10 1:43 AM I've seen horses act 10x worse then Sister in this video at jack pots, needing a buddy horse, rearing, spinning etc... and some if not most aren't even getting close to a check in the 1D.
At one arena in particular, my horse is horrible in the alley. I have tried tons of different entry methods and he just gets worse. So I have decided I will only go to important rodeos and big added money barrel races to avoid drama. He is fine everywhere else, but to see him there, you'd think he was a raving lunatic. |
