And you get that one decent picture. That was me today. Usually my mare is the easiest to catch out of all the horses. Today wasn't so. I had to chase her for 20 minutes before she finally decided 'Okay I'm done.'. She in the 4 years I have owned her has never ran around that long and resisted getting caught for that long lol. Maybe its the snow??

Anybody else get snow and horses are getting frisky??

That's a great picture!

When my horses are naughty to catch, I use the fourwheeler and essentially chase them around the pasture at a trot or lope. I stop every lap or so to see if they are ready to behave like the civilized horses I know they are. When they are ready to come inside, they just turn around and walk up to the quad and follow me back in to the barn. If they'd like to be sonsabetches about being caught, they still have to work. But instead of a fun trail ride or cow-getting adventure, they just have to run around the pasture.

It is like round penning on a GIANT scale.lol

But I think now they just think it is a fun game...

Mine get caught twice a day to be fed. You don't want to get caught you don't eat around here. I have a no tolerance policy.

We just take the Ranger out and chase them. My mom had to chase my gelding for 2 hours and still couldn't catch the dang thing (He doesn't get fed though, just pasture since he is retired). He didn't want to come in to see the farrier. All I could do was laugh because when I got home, I went out there, and whistled for him and he walked right up to me. (He knows I'll run him til he's dead, mom isn't mean enough to him that rank old thing).

I have only had to chase the mare 4 times, and once she figured out not being caught meant that once she did get caught she would get a butt kicking and respect lesson then a workout. She acts better for me (Not so much for the barn hands though. lol She gets her halter left on now cause they chase her every time she doesn't have it on, especially when the studs are out cause then she is flirting).

I dont feed grain. They have all just been n grass this year. It got bad last night minus 4-. I thought I was gonna loose my mare thats pictured there for a while. I blanketed her, walked her till she stopped shivering and went back every 2/4 hours. Went to go check on her this morning and she was still yet again running from me. I just dont hink she feels good honestly, shes never hard to catch ever. And she changed over night about that. When she does run makes me wanna run her till shes dripping with sweat but its to cold to do that lol.
