| I don't know if this has been posted anywhere, there are so many threads with so much stuff in them I can't keep up.
Anywho, I never would have thought about doing this. What a good call on Fallon's part and so glad she had a clean run on BabyFlo.
Check out the picture from her running home!!

Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs | Yep, they are blinkers. Lots of race horse trainers use them. Biggest majority of QH's run in them. I for one prefer to not have to use them. But it was a good call to put them on. |

| I thought it was a fly mask when I saw it last night, I was kind of confused. Blinders makes much more sense. It seemed to work, too! They had a nice run. |

| I used to cover one eye of a horse I had years ago. lol He liked to majorly drop his shoulder on a 3rd barrel. No amount of training and slow work at home, bits etc fixed it. So, I just took a dish rag and put it over his left eye and tucked it under his bridle/Tie DOwn. WOrked like a CHARM!!!! |

| So educate me, why do you think she used them? To keep her from hitting the 3rd or to keep BabyFlo from looking around?
I am rooting for her to win a round!

Location: Texas | Kudos to her for thinking outside the box and it worked. I'm sure no one just WANTS to run in blinders but when you are running for $18,000 a night I would sure try them too.
My trainer has used them before on certain horses and weaned them off over time. |

She runs to the left first so she has 2 rights. |

Location: CA | They can be VERY dangerous to use on a barrel horse... I have seen 2 horrific wrecks with blinkers on barrel horse. They definitely worked great last night for FT but I would not recommend them for just any ole barrel race.. Yikes. |

Yes ma'am! They even have what we call "cheaters" with I think 1/2inch "cups" we used at the track if we wanted to take blinkers off and didn't have time to work from the gate without them before the race first. They have some awesome ones for horses that are blind and/or missing an eye that covers the whole bad eye socket so they don't get dirt in it.

Lookout isn't being "unclassy" that's what it's called when you pump your fist in the air, like FT did tonight and last night. |

My dad would also cut a small whole in the blinker cup so a horse can just barely see out of the corner of their and so they will not spook if one is running up on him, but could still be focused and keep moving forward. |
