Why did your vet tell you to run with front shoes only??? Is there something going on with your horse's stifles?
I run my horse with fronts shoes only because he has a sticky stifle. There is too much grab with shoes on the back and it actually makes him come up and out of the ground. No shoes and he digs in and gets around it.

Mine is barefoot on the back because of a stifle problem. He ran in the 1d with me for the first time that way, so I think we will stick with it until I have a reason not to.

We shoe the fronts because of fetlock issues. He did say it would be less wear on the hocks/stifles. I'm just concerned with nothavong enough traction.

Look at pics of wild mustang hoofs. They have some of the best traction. The sole will eventually concave a little inward depending on environment. If I'm taking my barefoot horse to a run I make sure he has a little wall growth and some bar growth. That will act as traction. I would never run him after a fresh trim.
