What will you be serving?   I know most families serve turkey but I'd like to hear about your non traditional meals.   Our family makes tamales and host a huge mexican buffet.

I usually make a tenderloin! This year for Thanksgiving I made manicotti! lol I'm far from traditional. After a few other turkey meals, I need something else!

We have a come and go type party all day on Christmas day.  My husband smokes meat.  This year it is going to be brisket.  We will have all kinds of other foods - meatballs in marinara, little smokies in bbq sauce, cheese dip, cold dips, chips, crackers, veggie tray, fruit tray, deserts, etc.

If we are with my family, it's homemade, from scratch Enchiladas and Tamales with Posole for Christmas Eve and Prime Rib for Christmas Day, complete with cheesy potatoes or twice baked potatoes, strawberry pretzel salad, corn or green beans, and homemade rolls and pies.

If we are with my husbands family, it is ham or prime rib for Christmas Eve complimented with a whole variety of sides, and desserts and left overs on Christmas day.  His family always has lefse (a potato tortilla type of thing, that you put butter and sugar on and rollup) and often has lutefisk (lye soaked codfish, that is then boiled and dipped in butter).  These are both traditional Scandanavian holiday foods.

My family has also had smoked brisket for Christmas Day and it was phenomenal.  That is what we did with my husband's family for Thanksgiving this year.

I'm all about a mix of traditional and non traditional and NO TURKEY!  :-)

man you all have some yumminess!!!!  I will be feeding carrots to my horses and will probably stick a pizza in the oven.

Hubby has to work starting at I think 3 and is also having to do overtime so I may fix him a yummy Christmas breakfast and that will be it for the fancy food.  No great dinner.

Don't worry-I am thinking of sneaking in some ride time when he leaves...don't tell him that...

One side of my family always does soup... chili, chicken noodle, seafood, and usually a couple of others.  We all love it and there are a ton of us, so it's easy... just maybe appetizers, rolls, and then desserts.

Well I just called MIL and she is serving Ham, Potato Salad (store bought) rolls and chips and dip, lol.  She insists on having Christmas Eve but just doesn't want to cook for it.  I think next year I will try to take over.  I offered to at least make a home made cake for dessert but she wouldn't hear of it, doesn't want anybody to have to do anything.  I guess clean up will be easy!!!

Christmas Eve we do seafood, and we are finally staying home this year for Christmas Day and we got a prime rib for that. Sides are still up in the air. We debated for weeks over turkey or prime hopefully that won't happen with the sides! Lol

Every year I do a cornish hen and a beef main. The beef I alternate with is standing rib roast prime rib, or filet mignon. It's filets turn this year.

We always do a traditional Thanksgiving dinner so for Christmas we usually grill steaks with baked potatos and some type of salad. We do bake Christmas cookies and fudge and pies etc.....Christmas morning we make egg lemon soup and toast. We make our children eat breakfast before they open gifts! LOL you have never seen kids eat and put their dish away faster!
