Location: TN | This past weekend I found out that we qualified for open world next year. This was our first year really competeing in NBHA so we have never been to Open World or Youth World.
I know that it is a year away and that it's in normally in Perry, GA… but thats really all we have so far lol. I also found last years entry form/schedule so I know how much the entry fees are going to be. NBHA's website isn't very helpful as far as answering the other questions us newbies have about the whole shebang, so I'm hoping to find some answers on here :)
How many go-rounds does each horse run?
Are the go-rounds and finals(if qualified) wrapped into the same $225 entry fee?
How many entries do you get per qualification?
Do I have to run the same horse all week?
If I run two horses and only one qualifies for finals, does that horse HAVE to be the one I run in the finals?
Im sure there are several more questions that I'm not thinking of at the moment but they'll come back o me!
Thank you in advance for any help anyone can be! Have a great day! |

Location: Some where between there and here. | 1. 2 go rounds and one final round. You have to qualify for the final round in either of your first 2 go-rounds. They usually take the top 15 or 20 back per D in each go-round.
2. all runs are included in the initial $225 fee
3. You can run 1 horse per qualification.
4. Whichever horse you run in the first go-round has to be the horse you continue to run. If you qualify back to the finals on 1 horse and you ran 2 horses in the first 2 rounds, you have to ride the horse you made it back on. No swapping.

| NBHA Open World is a great experience that I think everyone should get at least once! I LOVE Perry...I only live 20 mins from the arena but that’s not why I love it! It is a beautiful facility and a very safe community! I have attended youth world in Jackson MS and other big shows and Perry is by far one of the nicest places! |

How many go-rounds does each horse run? Two Go Rounds & a Finals Each for the Open & Senior. You can choose to forego the 2nd Go-Round if you qualify back in the 1st.
Are the go-rounds and finals(if qualified) wrapped into the same $225 entry fee? Yes
How many entries do you get per qualification? One entry per qualification/Wild card
Do I have to run the same horse all week? Yes. Same horse for each go round and finals. You can run more than one as long as you qualified &/or won/bought a wild card
If I run two horses and only one qualifies for finals, does that horse HAVE to be the one I run in the finals? Yes
Im sure there are several more questions that I'm not thinking of at the moment but they'll come back o me! Thank you in advance for any help anyone can be! Have a great day! ....

Location: TN | Thank you everyone! Will they let you run a backup horse if your main one goes lame or anything? Can I run a different horse in the 21 race than I do in the go-rounds? |

Location: In the real world | Yes, you can run a different horse in the 21 than the open. If you run the 1st go with a horse, the same one must run the 2nd go and finals. If too injured to run, you have to turn out. Sorry |

Location: TN | In reference to switching horses if one is injured, I was looking at the entry sheet from 2013 and there is a spot on the side that reads:
NO REFUNDS
NO RIDER SUBSTITUTIONS
HORSE SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
if your not allowed to run a different horse at any point, what does "HORSE SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED" mean? |

If the horse you enter with gets injured before Worlds, you can take a substitute, and change horses.
You cannot change once you run. |

Location: Ava, Missouri | Another NBHA newbie here. I just started racing in NBHA this year.
How do you qualify for Open World?
And did any of you happen to go to Jackson, MI for world in possibly '08 or somewhere close to that year, I can't remember? I had a horse of mine that went with his old owners sometime back then. Just wondering if anybody would have happened to remember the horse, because the rider almost fell off there. I figured somebody might remember, since she bounced out of the saddle and landed on his butt going out of third, he slowed down around 2nd, and she got back in and finished the run clean. Just thought I would see if anyone remembered! His name was Sizzlin Lightnin SMA, or Judd. He is a red roan Appaloosa gelding with very few spots. |

You declare a district at the beginning or the year & you earn points throughout the year at DISTRICT shows. Super Shows/Nationals/Worlds do not award points. Unless they're a district sponsored/sanctioned super show. Top 5 (or more, depending on your districts size that year) in each division qualify for the world. |

Thanks! But Top 5 in what division qualify? And how soon do you know if you qualify? |

Every division 1D-4D in each class had qualifiers. Senior and Open go to Open world in October. Youth & Teen go to Youth world in July. Usually the district director lets you know that you've qualified. The ones around here post it online & email the final points results out to members. I believe NBHA sends you a notification too.
So the top 5 (or more depending on the size of the district) in points in the 1st through 4th divisions in the Open & Senior classes qualify for the world. |

Location: Foot of the Smoky Mtns, East Tennessee | You had to haul your horse to the arena in Augusta, but everything is right there together on the same grounds in Perry. It's a really nice facility. If you have a trailer with LQ or weekend package you never have to leave the grounds once you get there unless you just want to. Nice facility in a nice part of GA. |

And here is a map of the facility http://www.gnfa.com/fairgrounds-map/
Its a very large facility with plenty of room to even take your horse on a nice lil ride away from the barns & excitement. |

Location: I wish I was in TEXAS!!!! | I was looking into joining NBHA for the 2014 year. Just another of a couple of quick questions, so does the NBHA year start in Jan and end in Dec? So if this is the ecase, then if I do qualifiy for any big show the show would be in 2015? |

Yes, the NBHA point year starts on Jan.1 but memberships run for a year beginning with the date you joined. 2015 would be the first year you could qualify for the World show off of points BUT you could buy a Wild Card in order to go to the 2014 World Show. You could go to a National Show in 2014 and your state show as long as you compete in at least 3 of your membership district shows before then. |

You can substitue a horse you entered (entry deadlines are 4-6 weeks before the actual show date) if for any reason you need to. However, once you've run a horse in the 1st go then you cannot change for the 2nd go or for the Finals. You can substitute only up until you run the 1st go. |

| I would love it if Nbha would up the jackpot to make there world show one of the top shows in the country. Perry is a wonderful facility, just would like to see more horses there and have better shopping, make it where the people all over would come. Sorry to change this thread. |

Not true anymore. When the show was in Augusta GA, that was true because the Show arena area did not have room for all the horses. Now it is in Perry GA, they have all the room necessary, and the horses and show are all in the same place. No more hauling back and forth. |
