People don't get that barrel racing is a sport. How many other people get mad when people just say it's not a sport or that's easy anyone can do it. Is there any other way to get them to see it is a sport without them doing it? I don't know if there is any other way. I just figured other people are probably feeling this way too and figured to post about it to talk about it.

I know what you mean. I have a friend who used to argue with me saying that basketball is harder than barrel racing, that it takes more skill than barrel racing, and that its more dangerous. eventually she decided to try and ride my gelding (she was petrafied of my barrel mare) and he wouldnt walk in a straight line for her. i told her "heals down, dont slouch, and stear that horse were you want him to go." She replies with "Im trying! Its harder than it looks." she basically proved herself wrong right in front of me. needless to say she is obsessed with horses now and wants me to teach her to ride and barrel race. It just takes time and they will eventually figure it out on their own.

I don't really get mad, I just know that they're ignorant to the sport of barrel racing. Most people don't know anything about it. They may have a vague idea of the concept but they don't know what all goes into it or just how competitive it is. Instead of getting mad, take some time to explain it to them. You can't expect everyone to know the ins and outs of barrel racing.

OMG I had this issue when I went to school cause everybody was all into soccer and basketball and they were like o barrel racing is so easy. It made me so mad! Yet whenever we brought horses to do pony rides at school for an event 1 of the girls that really gave me a hard time was so scared to get on my horse lol.

How could barrelracing not be a sport when of course its on television at at almost every state in the world that's like saying football isn't a sport that's what I want to say to people like that and its not easy to barrel race I started when I was 12 and its still not easy you really need to trust your horse before you run like that I've seen grown men get thrown off barrel horses because their speed and turns people say its easy but when it comes down to it they don't want to try then they realize how hard it is.

How can barrel racing not be a sport when its at every state in the world that's like saying footballs not a sport I started barrel racing at 12 and its still not easy you really have to trust your horse before you run like that me and my horse have a really good partnership together he would do anything for me I love him and show that every day I've seen grown men get thrown off of a barrel horse before he almost cryed I felt pretty bad but its funny when someone thinks its so easy but once the horse takes off the person wants off even if they know how to ride.:-)
