What do you wish your hauler would do for you when in route with your horse. We have hauled a lot over the years but keep hearing terrible stories about haulers and how horses and owners are taken care of. We might go back to hauling some next year and would want to be on top of what everyone expects. I am overly cautious of my own and treat everyone elses that way to . Thanks

As well as references . . . lots of references. And when you get a hauler, Google their name (company name as well as individuals) and post on FB and forums asking for firsthand experiences regarding the hauler.

I agree with communication. My favorite hauler posted updates and pics on facebook when ever she stopped. I got to see my horse on the trailer and when they unloaded for the night. I felt so safe with her hauling my baby. She also texted regularly to keep me updated.
Get a head to head trailer so you don't have to unload horses when isn't nessasary. It is a big risk when you have to shuffle them all the time when you stop.
Keep your rig and all lights in good repair. Have a safety check list and procedures for loading and unloading horses.
Keep the right halter with the right horse along with anything else that was sent with it. Make sure the horses eat and drink well.
