Did you take a year off after graduating with your BA? Live at home? Work full time while going to classes at night?
I am a senior in college, but waited a few years after highschool before I decided that college was what I wanted to do. I am currently looking at graduate schools, and was wondering how everyone else made their decision to go and how they managed everything.
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
My daughter started grad school the summer she graduated with her BA. She did grad school in one year. She wanted to get it done and behind her. We paid her rent, she worked 2 jobs with the economics department to pay for spending/gas $$.
I started the summer semester (June) after completing my BA in May. I had a full fellowship that paid my expenses and completed a biology based MS in 2 years. The length of time it takes depends on what you are studying and attempting to accomplish.
My best advice is to buckle down and make sure you have clear goals written out. It is easy to get side tracked with opportunities in grad school so make sure you are clear in what you want to accomplish.
I worked roughly 30 hrs a week tending bar while doing school full time as well to cover my fuel expenses (and my horse!!).
It was an amazing time and be ready for lots of not sleeping!
