| I use Essential Pharmacy Compounding. Great customer service--they will fax an Rx to your vet, abd they just have to sign it and fax it back. Or, your vet can just call them. |

They are very expensive. Flipside is you don't need a Rx.... but I would be wary of any site selling this to someone without one. |

Holy crap
I have never looked that site.
That's some voodoo witch doctor sheet in that place.
I don't know how they get away with selling most of that crap.

There's no contact number to call in...it's all over email
You also don't need an Rx for anything...... so yeah, shady and def not in the US....
Makes me wonder what QA/QC methods they use in their "pharmacy" |

Location: where ever my L/Q trl is parked | Try www.heartlandvetsupply.com they have PentAussie cost is 12ml vial 54.95 or 4+ vials for 49.95 each..... they might have larger quantities. This is what I buy- my local vet charges me 68.00 for 12ml vial- I try to buy all my Rx from Heartland instead of my vet. They probably have PentaSan too. |

Gold is precious, so it has to be better

Location: Land Of Oz | You guys saying PentAussie is cheaper - it's not. Take a look at the dosage.125 mg pentosan polysulfate in PentAussie vs. Pentosan from horseprerace: 250 mg pentosan polysulfate. Pentosan Gold has 150 of glucosamine also. I've had great results with Pentosan Gold and NO issues with horseprerace! Pentosan from horseprerace - 50 ml bottle gives you 8 doses so that makes it $28ish/dose. Pentosan Gold 50 ml bottle comes out to 31.25/dose. Pretty inexpensive.

Provided it's 250 mg/pentosan polysulfate and not 125 mg (unless you're giving 12 ccs), your vet is cheaper for regular Pentosan it looks like. |

Pentosan is sterile water
Pentosan gold is aceytl D glucosamine
that accounts for the difference in cost.
ETA: mine is 250 mg/ml
I am assuming my vet ordered regular pentosan for me (but it could be the gold... i forgot to ask her lol). At 125 for 50 ml, it's about 15 per dose. My vet does a very good job of trying to get me bargains. She's a great lady. She ordered mine from Wedgewood Pharmacy.
Pentaussie is more money. She priced it for me, and it was significantly more.

I asked my boss about horseprerace.com last time I was down and he said they are pretty sketchy and infact are based out of the country(i believe in Canada?) but get away with shipping to US because their website has a Nebraska address or something along those lines. |

Pentosan is used off label for oseoartritis and DJD just as Adequan is (but it's FDA approved to use Adequan) Here is a video of some vet's explaining Pentosan and a couple studies that show how it works.

The gluco I do a loading dose of one shot for 4 weeks, then i do every 3 weeks or more depending on if I have a weekend race coming up.
The pentosan I have only done the loading dose (1 shot for 4 weeks) and then monthly. Some people give it bi-weekly. |

Location: Muskogee, OK | I get mine from Wedgewood. I havent ordered in a while so I dont know if prices are exactly the same but I couldnt see them going up too much as it hasnt been that long.
I get 100 mL of 250 mg/mL strength Pentosan for about $160. It's about 16 doses (depending on how much your horse weighs) and works out to be about $10 a shot.
I always do a loading dose (1 shot every 5 days for 4 shots) and then I give every 2-3 weeks after that if my horse is running often. Really like the stuff! I also feed Cosequin in conjunction with it as there has been studies in Australia done that show they work synergistically together. |

define like...lol
I will say my horse is feeling AWESOME....17, and acting like a youngin... I'm not riding a lot, so this is both good and bad right now lol
let's just say he REALLY wanted to buck yesterday, but he restrained himself and I am thankful lol
I am curious to see if this product will help me extend the time between getting his hocks done. he's basically on vacation right now. However, normally he is stiff in the hind end if he's long out on getting injected (which he is, since I'm not riding much), and the stiffness went away after I did the loading dose. I see it the most when I pick out his hind feet. He will fight me a bit if he's sore...and he feels really good and loose right now with little excercise. |

At 3 mg/kg (usual dosage) and using a 250 mg/mL suspension (how it is usually sold) a 1200 lb horse should get 6.5 cc per dose. |

I was in my last year of my Animal Science Undegrad when a few vets were discussing this. I then went on to intern with an Equone Vet who would tell clients not to dose with in one week of a run that she felt it induced bleeding (in horses that already had EIPH) . I have a bleeder and I really think it's true. I do not give him any gluc/adequan within a week of a race. |
