Location: Riding Crackhead. | I don't decorate like I used to when the kids were little. I've thrown out a lot of stuff or just don't put it up. We put up a real tree and I put evergreen/berry garland with lights up above my kitchen cupboards. The lighting in here is bad for pictures but I'll try to get one. This is the worst year EVER for me being Scrooge. I hate this feeling. I have a lot of issues going on that I should't let take control of my feelings with Christmas, but they are. |

Location: Washington | CYA, I struggled for the past 2 years. We lost my Mom Dec. 23, 2010 then my father passed in Oct 28, 2012, then my second Mom early this year, and I put down our beloved horse Mongo. So I get what your saying.
I found the desire to go all out this year and I did it for someone I had never done it for before.....me. With all the years of doing it up big it always was for the company coming and when we were active military living on Post you basically got told to do up the homes.
It was fun for me this year....and enjoyed the many memories I have been given and blessed with....just needed to remind myself of them.
SO for those who don't decorate, I will share mine! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I lost both of my parents, they pased away 3 years apart. And it was so sad for us, my Dad died Dec. the 22 and buried him on the 23th, then 3 years later my mom passed and she died on Dec. 21 and we buried her on the 23rd also and of course they are next to each other. So Christmas is not much of a joy for me and my sister. If it was not for my grandbabys I would not do much either, but I love seeing their eyes light up with all the Christmas that i do for them. Having little kids around heal me of my sadness, so I got back into the Christmas spirit once again. Merry Christmas

Location: Kansas | FC you need to explain about the geese. Using items from loved ones means so much too me, especially when hand made.
I know my mother would expect me to carry on with Christmas traditions and to develope new ones. It's just not the same, but I can't not decorate or celebrate. My father and I have started new traditions with some great friends. They have helped to fill the void. Good friends are priceless.

I hope they attach Laura. My husbands father made all of these. He fought 3 wars, and we lost him in 2000.
He also made the ducks in the showcase if you can see them in the second picture. Very talented and great man. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I finally quit being a Scrooge and took some pictures of my tree and some of my favorite ornaments. I love my local Tractor Supply store and spend a lot of time visiting with the employees. I commented on their store tree last year that I loved the old pickup and tractor ornaments. I went back in after Christmas and was handed a huge bag of the ornaments. I thought that was pretty special. The skunk and the squirrel have no meaning - just cute. LOL

As for our Christmas decorating this year...ain't gonna happen. It's just Todd and I and the dogs and we are going to be gone for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then again over the weekend I just plain didn't get around to putting up a tree this year which is terrible! I don't even have gifts wrapped but after coming home to packages being ripped open by a very bored dog I wasn't taking the chance. LOL When we move into our new house next year I will decorate but it's a no go this year. |

No I don't leave them up all year. We have all his decoys and they stay out year round. I need to share a picture of all his Santa's that he also made. Like I said a very talented man.
Our presents are always something the animals like to look at, but we have been lucky and they all learned to leave them alone.
SO next year docschic, you start this thread and I shall look forward to your Christmas pictures!!!!
