Location: Northern CA | Got a new filly, her feet are rock hard +. Need to get her trimmed but not sure how to soften them. We normally overnight in a soaker pen, but can't do it when it is freezing. Any ideas? |

Location: ND | Why do you want to cut the soles? I never touch them on any of mine unless their is loose flakey dead sole that wants to come out. |

I only know of two knives worth a crap on hard soles... D&H made in Canada and The Knife, Made in Illinois.

| use corona (ointment) and wrap her feet in it over night in a paper bag about 3 days before you attempt to trim. |

Location: Arkansas | Ive seen guys use blow torches to heat the sole, drawing moisture to the surface to make it easier to trim. You could always to a simple soak in a feed pan. We don't have to worry about hard feet here, everythings standing in water right now! :/ Thrush is more our problem!!! |

| We have used a propane torch in the past to draw the moisture down. Right before you're ready to do the trim, heat the foot, then get to work. |

Love this stuff. Makes then like tough leather, not super soft. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Olive oil soaks right in as fast as you put it on. There are bags on line just for that sort of thing, strong enough for horses. |
