Location: Ava, Missouri | My pony started acting out of the ordinary today, she kept laying down most of the day. Then when I went out to do groundwork with her, she was really lethargic and not her usually spunky self. So we put her in the barn and took her temperature. It was normal. So we are keeping her in tonight to monitor her. If she isn't feeling better by morning we will be calling the vet. I may just be overreacting, but hey, better safe than sorry! And this pony means the world to me, and I want her to be feeling her best. So I'm just asking for some prayers to help me get through the night, I know I won't be sleeping much lol. Thanks!

Location: Ava, Missouri | UPDATE: We just called the vet and left a message. She is now stomping and swishing her tail, not have any appetite, won't drink, her temp and heart rate is normal, but has a shallow respiratory rate and abnormal gut sounds. Thanks for all your prayers, I am definitely needing them. Hoping this isn't too bad. |

Location: Ava, Missouri | ANOTHER UPDATE:Okay, the vet got here and treated her for colic. He ran a tube up her nose and tried to put mineral oil in her but she started to drain stuff out her nose. So he couldn't put mineral oil in her in case she aspirated and got it in her lungs. So we just let her drain through her nose and are checking her throughout the night. In the morning we will take her in and try the mineral oil again. |

Oh my...sending more prayers for your pony. I lost one the day before Thanksgiving to colic. She started off the same way. Lethargic, banamine didn't really seem to help, hauled to a local vet and was sent on to the equine hospital 3 hours away. I'm praying your situation will be vastly different than mine. |

Location: Ava, Missouri | MORNING UPDATE: Jinxy did fine throughout the night, still not pooping, eating, or drinking. We loaded her up in the trailer and took her for a bumpy trailer ride on some dirt roads. We got to the end of the road and checked on her, she finally went to the bathroom! So we hauled her back home, and she perked up immediately. She was grazing in the yard on the way back to the barn, ate some hay in her stall. I brushed her while she ate some salt mix that had a lot of salt in it. She still won't drink though. We have a bucket of warm water and a bucket of warm Gatorade out there for her. (She loves Gatorade normally!)Hoping that within a few hours she will be drinking soon. Thanks so much for all of the prayers, hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight knowing my punk is feeling better. |

Location: Florida.. | its common to have some small amount of gastic fluids come out.. if large quantities then id be heading to surgery for obstuction.. Id still be keeping a eye on her and not give her anything but smalll amounts of alfalfa for a day or two.. and let her graze.. water her hay etc.. get fluid to her gut anyway you can..but im not a vet .. hope all is fine.. with her soon. |

| I would still take her/him to the vet. 1 pile of poo isn't enough. Needs to be going more. I would think some fluids would be needed as well as oil. If a large amount of fluids came out when the tube was put into the tummy, that's not good. It means they aren't continuing they journey through the gut. Lots of walking. Wouldn't be giving any dry hay if he/she isn't drinking. Wet grass, a little bit. JMHO. Good luck |

I agree, I would have thought she would let us know how the pony was doing , oh well I guess we did scare her, to bad, cause I really wanted to know how the pony is doing. |

Location: Ava, Missouri | UPDATE: You guys didn't scare me off lol. I just had been busy and hadn't gotten on the computer to update you guys. She recovered the next day completely and was acting like her self again. She is outside right now playing in the snow and annoying the other horses lol. |
