Location: London Ontario | So we are planning a trip to Vegas for next years NFR before they move it, just cause the only reason I'd go to Vegas was for the NFR. So what was the price rangeish for flights there and back? It would be from Detroit. What about car rentals? And what's the best hotel for the money? We don't want a sketchy hotel that we'll get mugged at haha but don't want to spend a four tune. And it would be split between four or five of us. And then what should we be doing there! They said a night at the casino and drinks, a night at the rodeo(when is the best time to get tickets and how much were they?) a night on freemont, a day shopping at cowboy christmas and a day doing touristy stuff and going to the hotels.
And where is the best place to get rodeo tickets?
All in all when is the best time to book all this, what is the best to book and what should we be doing??? Thank you!

Living within my means

Location: Randolph, Utah | I don't rent a car when I go to Vegas, taxis seem to be the easiest and know where they are going. For a hotel I like Excalibur, not overly expensive but still nice. I take a couple days to shop and only pick a couple places to go, way to many to get through in a couple days. Fremont street has concerts the night before the rodeo starts that is lots of fun.

| We went for the first time this year, though my parents have been to Vegas before. We stayed at the MGM Signature and it was awesome! A little bit more than the regular casino rooms, but well worth the cost. The rooms were comfy with giant whirlpool tubs. We had great views of the strip. The hotel is completely smoke free, which I needed because of my asthma. It was also super quiet and great for sleeping when we were all worn out. I'll stay there if we ever go again. | |

Location: Mi | We flew out of Detroit this year, had no lay overs either way and stayed at the Flamingo. Our Flight room for 5 nights, with upgraded room was about $800.00 for the two of us. We booked mid July, but I watched after and the prices didn't seem to change much.

| I went for the first time this year, and this is what I learned:
Stay at a hotel that has a shuttle to the strip and/or Cowboy Christmas, it would be nice to not HAVE to take a cab everywhere. Or better yet, stay somewhere close to where you want to spend a lot of your time (we stayed at the Hard Rock - not close to anything and no shuttles!)
We didn't rent a car and after riding in a cab multiple times, I was totally fine with that - I would have been completely lost and would have had no idea where to park it.
You will need more time than you think to shop. We shopped for 2 full days and didn't even come close to seeing it all.
I flew out of KC on Southwest, my tickets were about $350 total.
We got in on Friday night, went and walked around a few hotels (they are so huge!). Saturday night we went to Cowboy Christmas and then to MGM and another hotel that night. Sunday we went to Country Christmas and to the rodeo. Monday we came home. One more day probably would have been perfect!

Location: SE Missouri | this year was our first time, wish we would have stayed longer!! Flew in Thursday afternoon, checked in at hotel (MGM), changed, ate at the hotel (actual restruant, overpriced but good) and went to rodeo, then came back to hotel, met friends at another hotel (riveria - cheap and old smelling, lol but safe) and people watched and gambled a little. Friday - slept in, caught brunch at hotel buffett, gambled a little more, when through NRS shopping at MGM grand, then checked out hotels close, then went back to rodeo, came back to MGM and stayed out watching the band (more people watching, crazy what type of characters you see, lol) Saturday - breakfast at starbucks, went and check outed out shopping and sites at a lot of different hotels, bellagio, mirage, treasure island, then convention center, and back to NRS at MGM, then camped out where the band was to watch the rodeo on live feed and stayed out.
I wish we would have went a little cheaper on hotel/food and a little more expensive on rodeo tickets one night. Only other regret is not going to South Point, not taking hubby to Hoover dam, not catching a show, and I would have like to check out T&M earlier b/c they had stuff going onthere also. (It was cold so i don't really regret not going earlier, lol)
Next year i would do buffett breakfast (it was awesome), medium lunch, and snack for dinner. We did cab and shuttle for everything and even though you have to wait in lines, they more a tremndous amount of people in a pretty short time span.

Location: Cedar Hill, TN | Harrahs is a great hotel and extremely reasonably priced, however we did stay at the MGM signature suites and loveeeeddddd it this year... Buy the three day ticket for the monorail. Cabs are convenient but, the crazy driving gives me anxiety. MGM is best place to party. See a show, I recommend the circ shows. AWESOME. I used to live in Michigan and flew out of Detroit two years in a row, we flew spirit. CHEAP but it shows, prices seem to drop mid October. I expect lots of people to attend this year with the threats, so may need to book earlier. Watch the after show at the Gold Coast, so cool. I have been to the South Pointe deals, but its so far off the strip, its just inconvenient. You will never have enough time to shop and see everything. Make sure you make time for the volcano at TI/Mirage and the fountains at Bellagio. I haven't made it to the hoover dam or grand canyon but that is on my list. The MGM is the hangout to see the contestants and party.

Location: Bandera, TX | We usually stay at the Excalibur. It is cheap and centrally located. We only used a taxi from and to the airport. Other than that we used the mono rail. We spent three days there and that is perfect to hit all the different shopping expos.
We prefer watching the rodeo in a hotel bar, rather than going to the Thomas & Mack. We found a great little bar in the MGM. It was perfect.
If you do a search you can find great suggstions on where to eat and what to do. This was all discussed just before the NFR started. It's a fun time!!! I hope they can come to an agreement and keep it in Vegas.
