I am so bummed. My good cow horse was diagnosed with 3 strains in his deep digital flexor tendon on Monday :-( Looks like we will be missing most, if not all, of his derby year. I am lucky enough to be able to use one of the top perfomance horse vets on the west coast and I am planning on doing the arterial stem cell on him. Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with this injury and stem cell and recovery?

That's a huge bummer. My gelding had one 2 years ago. He healed fine, just has a small lump, scar tissue. I never did the stem cell just the normal stall rest/hand walking. Good luck!

I have done stem cells but injected right into the affected area, the recovery time was 6 weeks then I could start legging up which took 3 months, no issues, tendons and ligaments have healed beautifully.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any advise, but am currently going through something similar. My cow horse mare tore her front right superficial digital flexor tendon in May. I only had her 3 months and got to go to one show. I did stem cell therapy where they injected right into the tear. We are now currently in our 7 month of rehab. It is really slow going. The vet says it will take a year, so I'm hoping I will be able to show her in July 2014. I'm currently looking for another horse, but boy a good one is hard to find. Good luck on rehab!
