| A&E Welcomes Phil Robertson Back to 'Duck Dynasty'

Less than two weeks after his anti-gay remarks prompted an "indefinite hiatus" for the reality patriarch — and a strong fan backlash — the network says he will remain on the series.

Phil Robertson, the patriarch of A&E's Duck Dynasty clan who was suspended from his hit reality series on Dec. 18 following some incendiary comments about gay people, won't be put on hiatus after all.
The network and the Robertson family announced Friday that Phil will still be part of the series -- and since he didn't miss any filming, his temporary suspension will have no effect on the upcoming fifth season.
An A&E statement to The Hollywood Reporter read:
As a global media content company, A+E Networks' core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people’s home and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principals.
That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the “coarse language” he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate.” We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold.
But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.
We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.
In addition, an A&E source says the family and the network are going to work together to promote tolerance moving forward.

I'd like to see the Robertson's walk after their contract expires. Too bad a and e own the duck dynasty products. You can't swing a dead cat in wm without hitting something with dd on it. |

You hit the nail on the head. If A&E thought they could still have the money maker without Phil, they would not of went back on their first actions. I would not be half suprise if Phil did not turn around now and tell the network to stuff it where the sun don't shine and hopefully sign with another network. But I am sure there is a HUGE contract in place with lots of conciences for such a action. As a fan though, I am glad Phil is back! I support him and Robinson family that is why I will watch. |

Rev cough Jackson gave them a deadline of where and when. A&E, Phil and CB missed it or rather ignored it. I am on a board that talks about all sorts of things going on in our country. The blacks and yes they call themselves blacks of both parties are so ready for Jackson and Sharpton to move on.
OT did anyone see where the white guy that played the knockout game is being charged with a hate crime for the attack on a black guy and black leaders are outraged calling for his head. Where is the outrage for the black on white knock out crimes? Sorry it just irks me. Hypocrisy to me is my biggest pet peeve and I know I sound like a broken record. |

I saw it as a publicity stunt & CYA too. Seems kind of fishy how it was all starting to die down, just in time for them all to magically come back together in love & harmony. BAM! Back in the headlines/time lines/etc for all to see. Again. |

| I know publicity stunts are pulled all the time but I just truly do not believe that this particular incident was that. I think A & E made a quick knee-jerk decision and it back-fired on them big time. Perhaps they never intended for him to miss an episode but wanted to LGBT community to think they had actually penalized someone for daring to insult them;however, I don't think they anticipated the back-lash to their announcement to be as dramatic as it was. That's just my gut-feeling about the whole incident. I'm kind of glad it happened though because it did give many of the Bible-believing public a chance to find out that they still have a voice and that it still carries some weight in this country
