What did it take for your young horse to start getting consistent? I know it is different for each horse, but I was just wondering the number of haulings it took until you noticed they were really starting to get confident. Some info on the horse would be good to know also (Like if they were super easy to start, running style, how comfortable they are with commotion ect.) Thanks, just trying to think some things through about my mare

I've had extremely easy horses to train and season. However I have had a few that never seasoned. Lol. As a general rule I will give a horse 6 months to get solid and not need time onlys anymore. Much more than that And I send them down the road. You will usually know by then what you have inder you.

My horses typically come along in a bit of a different manner. I don't rush speed on anything. If one comes in and works well early on, I don't worry if the don't fire. I typically see them starting to speed up on their own after about a handful of times to town. I have had those who just never seem to season. If I've had them to town 10 times and they still act like the world is a big, bad, scary place I then decide whether or not I think their talent outweighs their lack of brain cells.

My horse didn't get really consistent until I started running her in different arenas. I think that is the biggest mistake I made with her, I ran her a lot in the same arena when she was young, I though she was ready to go on but she struggled when I started taking her to different arenas. After 1 summer of going to open rodeos and races in other arena she got pretty consistent.

I have a 2 year time frame start to finish - after 2 years I either move on or keep running them - I like to give them every opportunity I can to get it done!
