Since I procrastinated as usual and tomorrow is the deadline, I have a question. My weanling is paid to Future Fortunes. I know the benefits there. What about PESI? Are there plenty of opportunities to earn the extra money? Is it worth it? I need to decide today. And my yearlings next payment is due. I will most likely keep hers up since I already nominated her-she wasn't Future Fortunes eligible though. Money is tight right now and just trying to decide if the benefits are worth the expense.
Since PESI is a WPRA sponsored program I would think it would revolve around rodeo and the events sponsored by WPRA. I think there is more PESI money in the west because that's where the membership is based. It's the opposite of Future Fortunes who have until recently been 90% in the midwest and east. I looked at it when I was trying to decide what to get into for stallion incentives. Take a look at the way they distribute the payouts and you will know if it will benefit you.
I would say it depends what you plan to do with your Weanling. If you plan to sell young or futurity- there is a lot of nice *extras* with PESI at most of the large events that is set up similar to FF. Once they are enrolled in the program there is no additional entry fee to be eligible for the extra money. For people buying a serious prospect every incentive helps and that money adds up quick as you may be out of the day money but still bring a check in for the incentive that day. Only enrolled horses are eligible so you may end up 15th or 16th in the go which pays $0 from the futurity but might be in the Incentive money since there was only 2 other horses ahead of you enrolled. Just an example but you get the idea I think. :) Hope that helps.
Thanks for the info ! I think it's more in the west like OregonBR said so doesn't help me out much and not planning on selling my girl so going to pass :)
