The 7 year old's breeding may make her more interesting to some, but her age and the fact that she is not going now may turn some off. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | To me it depends on how they're built, temperment and what the barrel racer is going to do. If they don't want to futurity, they may not want something young. If they are going to futurity, they're not going to want an older horse.
Going on bloodlines alone, probably the 7yr old but then there's a lot of people out there that like the young horse's bloodlines as well.
I'd base it on confirmation and which ones has the best feet/legs and temperment and speed. |

Location: MD | Depends on a lot more. But a simple answer
3yo by a reputable son, futurity opportunities.
7Yo would make me wonder why shes not further, would worry about possible problems in the process of breaking her out (whether there would have been any or not) i also dont get along with mares or have any interest breeding. |

ditto other then I prefer a gelding, the mare is more up my alley of what I would want to buy... |

Location: Texas! | I'd be more inclined to go with the 7yo, like the breeding best and 7 isn't too old for me to consider at all. I didn't start exhibitioning my gelding until he was 6/7. Sometimes life just gets in the way and horses fall through the cracks, doesn't mean they won't make one helluva rodeo horse! |

All that is true except the Chicks Beduino might be a big huge plus to someone like me who gets along really well with them. That line seems to be a love/hate thing.
I'd take the younger option personally. |

| I raise mine, but if I couldn't lope a prospect through the pattern, I would not even go look at it. ANY horse can trot a pattern.......I want to see how they use their body in the turn. We try to break ours enough before going to the pattern so you don't have to spend very long before they can attempt a lope. |

My mare was started as a 6 year old, hauled a little as a 7 year old. She acted like a young one because she was thrown in a field for 2 years after being broke. So I wouldnt worry about her age. I like her breeding, and that she's a mare.
ETA: I think the mare would be worth more, Dash Ta Fames are a little more agreeable than Chicks Beduinos

exactly my thoughts. Being able to trot the pattern means nothing to me. I'd still look at them but I wouldn't pay more for a horse that trots the pattern than one who doesn't. |

I love the looks of the BTF horses, but I haven't met one that isn't NASTY. |
