So I saddled my coming 2 year old stud colt for the first time the other night, every couple times around lounging he'd reach around and bite the saddle and try to rip it off! I've never seen one do this, is this normal? I started getting after him when he did it.
ETA: I've also noticed he did that with splint boots and bell boots, basically anything that's on him that "he" doesn't approve of. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Perfectly normal. He's just trying to figure out what's on him & why it's there. I just let them play with it until they are over it & then they typically don't care anymore.

It is normal. That said however, I would keep an eye on the severity of it since he's a stud colt and make sure it doesn't progress to much more aggressive behavior. Stallions will bite things out of the blue pertty hard without any real indication and you don't want it to become that type of thing. If you think it's turning into that, I'd get his feet moving instead of hammering on him or keep him moving and thinking so he never really gets the chance to do it in the first place.... or if you tie him up, make sure he's too tired for shenanigans.
