Location: Bessmer City NC | God called my sweet Crank home last night. He and my younger horse got into is and he got kicked/ran/jumped threw the fence. Somehow he managed to break his back right leg at the hock and had to be put to sleep. He was 28 and brought so much joy to my life. weve got so many miles and memories together. I just wasnt expecting it and wasnt rdy to let him go yet.Idk if ill ever ride again. im just completely heart broken. this is the first horse weve ever had to put down the other 2 have died from old age. please pray for me.if anyone has any words of encouragement please share them i desperately need them.

 I Am Always Right

Location: stray dump capital of the world | I am so very sorry for your loss. Crank has his wings now and is rolling in greener pastures. Trust me, the pain will ease and while it never completely goes away, it isn't as raw. Focus on the good times you had with Crank, cry all that you need to...don't hold it in. You need to grieve. The BEST advice I can give you is to get back on a horse. Any horse will do. Smell them, love on them, brush them, just get back out there. They are the best therapy there is. I have been in your spot 4 times in my life. The first time when I was 15 and my horse got out (someone left the gate opened at the boarding stable) and was hit by a car. At the time, he was my only horse and I never wanted to ride again. One of the owners of the stables came to my house and took me to the barn. He graciously gave me his son's roping horse to use while he and my dad worked to get me another horse. The most recent time was the day before Thanksgiving. It, too, was unexpected and shocking. I am much older now, but immediately, I got back on one of our others. It is great therapy. Crank had 28 beautiful years. Years that most horses don't get. He got those because of your love and care. Many hugs and prayers to you. I promise, the pain will ease.

Location: On a paint horse... | Many, many prayers for you! I lost my special 5 year old in July, it is absolutely heartbreaking. My hubby saw me going down the 'Im not going to ride again' path and he had me out riding every day. There is still a huge hole and I can never replace my girl but I do enjoy riding again. Thinking of you... |

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together. |
