| I wanted to share my New Year's Eve pics with you. My husband had to work all day and I actually talked him into letting me hunt the dog without him. I know it pained him and it was hard for him to let me take the dog on my own. He did get to join us for the New Year's Day hunt. Overall though, I can't think of a nicer way to ring in the new year. The dog worked awesome for me and I knew he would. Hopefully I have these pictures resized correctly so they'll post. Oh - and that new O/U worked out well. :)

| Just outside of Peck, ID at www.littlecanyonshooting.com. I snicker when people snicker at hunting "planted" birds. I am still sore after two days of hunting for 4 hours at a stretch on a steep hillside. I can only imagine how the poor dog feels. He was a rock star though. They set 15 pheasant and we (had some friends along too) got 11 pheasants and two bonus chukars. :) Yes the dog needs a friend and I suspect he'll get one this spring. I am a little bummed as he's only 5 and starting to get sore after a day of hunting (rightfully so for all the miles he travels in a day). Putting him on some Cosequin and I did give him an aspirin at the end of each day and that did seem to help. I almost wished I could have brought him to work with me today rather than putting him in his kennel in the barn. Also forgot to add, the birds held well except for the chukars - they wanted to run.

| it was a pretty sweet deal while it lasted.
It got to be a giant CF so about 3 years ago I stopped going.
Had access to about 14k acres and it was hunted 4 times a year. We hunted it two days, the family hunted two days.

| Those three dudes with me are probably 3 of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of being friends with.
Plus I never have to worry about losing a fight.

Hotbear it's a Miroku - they manufacture Browning shotguns. And other than the Miroku stamp on it - it's basically a Citori. I was trying it out. The only thing that didn't thrill me are the skeet chokes in both barrels but hey - I got my share of birds so it works. :) Thanks on the dog - he is very special. He made two of the coolest retrieves I've ever had the pleasure to witness. We were up on a high, steep field and my friend and I both hit the bird and it ended up coasting at least 350 yards down the steep hillside. That dog started off after it, stopped halfway, watched it land, went down and got it and brought it all the way back to me. I could not have been prouder of him. Next day my husband got to join us and he shot a bird which Gus promptly fetched and on his way back he stopped and locked onto another bird with the one in his mouth. Wish I could have gotten a picture. |
