| Tossing around some thoughts on what to add to my 9mo old filly's feed. She's on a good feed, just looking to supplement some to shine her up and add to the topline a bit. I have her on Grow Colt (well been out for a couple weeks but have some coming). Has anyone fed Ultium as just a supplement? Also, thoughts on coconut oil vs vegetable oil vs corn oil? I've not used any of the oils personally, but am tossing around the idea for a couple of the adult horses as well. Any thoughts would be great :o) I always consult with my vet before starting anything I'm unsure of, but I'd like some feedback. Thanks ya'll! |

| The vets around here recommend Platinum Performance. I use it and my horses look terrific. I recommended it to a friend and she said that her horse was the shiniest horse at one barrel race. Very good all around supplement. |

| Lysine lysine lysine. Cannot say enough great things about it. Cheap and really makes a difference as far as topline and filling out go.
I feed flaxseed oil and have great success with keeping my boys shiny even with a long winter coat. |

Location: Oklahoma | Ground flax seed . . . 1/2 cup twice a day has worked wonders for my herd's coats and health. I would stay away from corn or vegetable oils. They are messy, have an inflammatory response in the body, and are not as eficient as using other fat sources.
Platinum Performance is flax seed based, and is an excellent all around fat and nutrient supplement
Purina Ultium could be used as a supplement, but it is usually such an efficient feed that you coud use it as the sole feed (along with hay). Add a lb or two a day of Ultium and see if the changes you desire happen. |
