My mare is going to Texas A&M soon for the full testing. But, until then, I have her in heavy work. Currently feeding Renew Gold (1.5 lbs) and alfalfa (15 lbs) and coastal hay (free choice), along with Triple Crown Lite (2 lbs). I think she could use a bit more energy. Can I feed Purina Ultium Competition, or should I figure out a fat supplement like cool calories?

Go with a quality fat supplement. Personally, mine needs at least a pound of fat/day in his diet to not make you feel like you want to get off and push. (16 hands, 1300 lbs.) May take a few weeks to really notice the difference, but it will be worth it. I have tried several of the feeds you are using and will give you more info. on my feeding program if you send me a pm. He's consistently in the 1D now that he has more energy, but he's not hot. A quality fat supplement was the key for him.
