I made it and so did my horses!  The kids and I let them back out a couple hours ago.  Our high today is -15 but the sun is shining and they're happy to be outside.  Tonight will be our last super cold night and then we're going to start getting above 0.  Yippeeee!!  A heat wave is  coming!

I'm in kansas, and we have record breaking weather.....it's going to be -30 today....first time in over 20 years it's ever been this cold.

My herd is fine, I can't breath when I went outside because it hurts so bad!

Haha, a heat wave indeed! I let ours out too because the sun was out and was nice despite the horrible wind. They wanted to run and play so bad, but were too stiff to get past a walking paced lope!! Well I'm glad yall are alright; I don't think I could make it through that kind of weather!!

I wear a face gator type thing with ski goggles so every part of my face is covered.  It sure sucks when my goggles freeze over though.  LOL  Last night my hubby had to lead me from the barn to the house cause I couldn't see anymore!

Everything is fine here, thankfully not much wind so it didnt get as cold as projected. We are still at -28 with -55 windchill (it was forcasted to -60 to -70) my water is froze up in the house but not the barn) just went and filled up the water tank for the horses and turned them into the barn to warm them up a bit before turning them back out as they would rather be outside than inside. yes.. they stayed outside, only one out of my three has blankets and he is 29 this year.

We made it, we were frozen under the house 2 days ago . filled all the water, plugged in heaters. Mine are out with blankets on,. Didn't get the barn cleaned out this summer, prior owners had nails scattered on the floor so I was digging them up. But all is good.

I can't even imagine.....

It is a very cold (for us) 22 degrees in South Central Texas.  None of us are doing anything other than the bare necesseties.  I'm covered in an electric blanket and still cold.

Y'all hang in there.  Stay warm.

I honestly can't imagine the -30's, 40's, 50's. I mean, just absolutely can't imagine. In my mind, I'm picturing the opposite of those temps as basically the pits of hell with lava running everywhere.

We had the coldest December on record since the 1800's and so far January is not being any nicer. -35F with a windchill of -50F last night and tonight. Looking like it's supposed to improve later in the week so the critters can all have a break from this brutal weather- the countdown till spring is on already!

Sometimes I think I'm crazy living up here and I should move but then I see a picture of a huge snake on someone's porch down south and think mmm NOPE!

My critters did well.  They have good shelter from the wind and were given extra hay.  They do not get stalled ever, I don't have the room for it.  But they are fat and fuzzy.  It was close to -50 here last night with the wind chill, actual air temp of close to -20.  The girls didn't have school today, that was called off state wide by the governor.  They are 2 hours late tomorrow, but the wind chill warning is over at 6am on tuesday.  I am looking forward to the temps climbing above 0.  It is going to be in the mid 30's here Friday and Saturday.  I would bet people will be out in short sleeves and no coats here, like it's a heat wave.

LOL!  My theory is that anytime it's below 0 it doesn't matter anymore, it's just darn cold and miserable!
We had a wind chill of -58 this morning when I got up and it was -20something tonight at chore time again, it didn't really feel any worse this morning than it did tonight.  It all just sucks when it gets that bad!
But CYA is right, we are going to get all the way up to 13 degrees tomorrow.  That is going to feel mighty toasty!

I was thinking of Grumpy Old Men when they go out ice fishing to the tune of Heat Wave! A tropical heat wave. By the weekend I`ll have to pull blankets and let them roll in snow.
