If you see someone that you think might need help, or even if you see someone who you aren't sure needs anything, just ask them please.

You never know what is going on in their life.  There is nothing worth more then the life of another good soul.  And it never hurts to put your life on hold just long enough to help someone who really needs it.

I was once again very strongly reminded of this today, and it broke my heart.  We had to take our very sick pup to the vet.  As we got into our hometown (headed to a few towns over for the vet), we see a lady walking away from the grocery store.  Air temperatures were -11 degrees, and the wind chill was about -35 or so.  We stopped in the middle of the road and asked her where she was going.  She told us to the bank about five or six blocks away, so we told her to get in.  While driving to the bank she told us she had to walk home.  I about died when she told me where home was.

OVER SEVEN MILES AWAY!!!  Needless to say, we waited for her outside the bank and took her home.  This was a grandmother, working at a nursing home, to support her 7 and 5 year old grandkids whom she is raising alone.  Her adult children were supposed to come get her but when they still hadn't shown up an hour later, she had to start walking to get home to the grandkids.

This should NEVER happen.  Under any circumstances.  I am going to swing by the nursing home this week to talk to her some more and see if she needs anything.....I just want her to know somebody does care about her and her family.

I want to slap her kids! You and your husband are so sweet, she probably would have gotten really sick (or worse) if she tried to walk home in that weather.

I'll never understand why people have kids and then leave them with their parents to raise. I see it all the time and it just puzzles me.

I think that's awesome - God bless you.

I have to comment though, did I read this wrong - were those young children left alone?

No, that's why she had to start walking.  She had to get there before the sitter had to leave.

No I don't.  Trust me, I have my flaws.  And some serious ones.  I'm just learning every day the power in helping strangers.  The reward of helping someone that never has to repay you is beyond worth it.  I'm just hoping I can encourage more people to do the same.  It only takes one time, then you will want to do it again......No matter my downfalls, I know I'm trying.

I loved reading this, you remind me of myself, for I and my husband would have done the same.  Just remember to please be careful when helping strangers...sometimes, even little old ladies, are not what they seem.  (I know you can handle yourself, so see it as a caution for others on here that aren't as well equipped as you are)

Yes you do have a heart of gold and your husband too.  I know this for a fact because I have been on the receiving end of your generosity and know how grateful I was to know someone was thinking about me and went above and beyond.  You and your husband are quite the pair.  And I will pay it forward what you have done for me.  You are an angel.

Good for you Missroselee. Someone else did kinda the same thing for me today. In light of the temps here doing something very unusual for the next two nights... (getting down into the mid to lower 20s) This man bought me two nights in the Fairfield Inn.

So nice of you..I would have to wonder why wouldn't someone from where she worked have given her a ride?  I would not have let my coworker walk home in that ..especially since several of them probably got off shift at the same time.. Poor lady.

I domt think she said anything to them.  She argued with us for a little bit and then tried to give us money.  I don't know if it was a pride thing or she felt ashamed that she needed help.
