Location: Golden Gulf Coast of Texas | Just wanted to share my experience. Got home yesterday and old broodmare was acting like colicing. She does this whenever she is not drinking very well. It usually results in me giving a banamine shot and calling the vet out and $200 later she is fine after oiling and more drugs. Last nite I just gave her banamine and waited about 30 minutes and she started acting better so I soaked one of those hydration blocks and gave it to her. She immediately went to eating it and no more symptoms all nite. Good to go this morning. I did give her more this morning instead of grain. I have been using this product when I haul and used it some this summer when it was really hot and I worried about how much water they were drinking. Just wanted to share again. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I agree, they are handy things. My horse last year was terrible about drinking away from home but would slurp up the hay/water from those. I always keep a couple in every trailer. |

Location: Kansas | I agree my mare loves them. I first tried one at a barrel bash here in hutchinson, my mare wouldn't touch any of her hay so I went and bought some of that hydration hay and she gobbled it up right away. |

Location: lost in missouri | I cannot say enough good things about them either. Our trailer never leaves home with out some in it. We haul a lot, they come in so handy in the hot summer to know the horses are getting fluids or if we get somewhere that they arent drinking like they should be, we drop one in a bucket of water after eating that bucket of hay and water they no longer have issue with drinking the water. I like that you can still find the $10 off coupon online to. |

Yes when the stores were handing out those coupons I collected quite a lot. Very handy product. |

Location: MN | When we were camping out in SD this summer, a lady was feeding it to their horses. I must say the one horse realy loved it. It was funny to see this horse's head when it was done eating, Just covered with it trying to lick the pail clean. I know that she is on here once in awhile and she is from MO. |

Once its soaked its not course at all. The hydration blocks have become a staple in my trailer while hauling. If we get horrible hot/humid streaks I'll feed them here at home too but normally they drink plenty here so I don't worry about them. |

I've found them around here at any feed store that carries Purina horse feed, I also saw that Tractor Supply had them. They are so handy to carry in the trailer and take up such a small amount of room for the amount of hay you get out of it once soaked. TimberCreek and I went on a trip together this past April. Her gelding wasn't crazy about the water and wasn't eating well so we gave him some the hydration hay. He hoovered it right up and we killed 2 birds with 1 stone. |

| At the congress on the last day Purina was giving them away so they didn't have to pack them all back up. I took as many as they would allow. Didn't know anything about them but they are still in my trailer, good to know! |

Hmm, Ill have too look around and find some. All of mine travel pretty well, so we don't have a problem with them drinking on the road. I would feel better though if I had something like that to feed in the summer.... It gets so darn hot and humid here, I keep them on an electrolyte regimen to make them want to drink more!! |

That was probably me. Our horses really did well using those as a supplement to the dry hay we were feeding. We knew there wasn't alot of water out on the trails so we gave them a block each morning with their grain. This way we knew they were getting some water before we would leave out to ride each day. Really convenient size to carry in the trailer and easy to handle but our horses did tend to make a mess of their faces each day. I should have taken pictures. lol Dawn are you guys going out this year? We made reservations and will be out there I think June 26 thru July 7. Hope to see you guys. |

Location: MD | I saw those things at Tractor Supply! I was wondering but didn't have much time to look into them!
so you basically soak those blocks down and it absorbs into some sort of hay? Is it basically supposed to help them keep hydrated/drinking? should you worry about it not absorbing enough water and expanding in their bellies? Sounds like a cool deal and I'll pick up some for my trailer!

Add 5 quarts of water to a block. Let it soak long enough to soak up all the water. If you follow directions there's no way it'll expand in their bellies. |
