Ok my cousin bought a new mare back in September, the lady my she got her from had her on consignment and said she was working on getting her papers. She was told they were lost in a divorce.. The mare has the LA brand on her left hip and has unique markings on her face, she has a star and a large snip that goes off the left side of her nose she doesn't have any socks. The mare came from Ohio and was called Kip. She is around 10 years old. If anyone knows this horse or anything about her could you please send me a message! We are looking for any info on her we can get. Thank you

One thing that can be done is if the horse is currently in the lady's name (divorcee), you can have her fill out an affidavit for duplicate certificate, it just has to be notarized...then the horse can then be transfered to your cousin

Can you find out the names of the people who got divorced? Many times registered horses are listed by their registered names in the divorce decree under the property that was split and ownership rights established.

She's talked to the husband but he doesn't know who's name she's in.. He told my cousin that they got her off if a horse trader in Kentucky.

If the husband knows the horse's registered name, then you can call AQHA to get the owner information and who will need to do the dirty work on helping you to clean up the paperwork. This couple might not have transferred the horse from another original owner or a variety of stuff in that ballpark.
