What do y'all feel about Macbooks vs. HP products? I have a Toshiba now, but was looking at the HP Pavillion Touchsmart. Any opinions? |

Macbooks are hard to use if you are switching from a regular computer. I like HP pretty good. |

We've had HP products for a long time (mostly printers) and haven't been disappointed yet. Macbook might be good, but I've never used one so can't give you an opinion one way or the other. |

Location: USA | Just an FYI, New laptops now come with Windows 8 which is very frustrating for those new to Windows 8. Same programs, but getting around Windows 8 is NOTHING compared to WIndows 7 or XP. |

Ugh thats no good. I'll mostly use it for iTunes, internet browsing and eventually school stuff. |

| I got a MacBook Pro about a year ago and love it. I am 67 yo so technology is not second nature plus I had used windows for years. Learning to use the Mac was very very easy. |

Location: South Georgia | I found an HP Pavillion G7 or something. Cant remember exactly what it is called...on craigslist brand new for $200. The guy had bought it to take overseas with him on a deployment so they could skype and used it for nothing else. It would have been $600 in stores. Check craigslist. I am always pleased with my HP products. |

Location: Land Of Oz | I'm never buying another PC again. I've had my Toshiba laptop for 5-6 years and it really hasn't had a whole lot of use. I spent the extra money and got a good one. Pretty sure the motherboard is failing. The stupid things get viruses even when you pay for good anti-virus software. Mac's don't seem to have that issue. I could see if I had used it hard but I haven't. I'm buying a Mac Book Pro.
It isn't true that MAC's aren't compatible with Windows - you can run parallels on a MAC and run ANY Windows program. In fact if you're a Windows fan, you can strictly have that as your OS.

Location: Texas | I have a HP laptop for work and a Mac for personal use. Of the two, hands down, I prefer the Mac. Getting used to the differences isn't hard. They are much more compatible with iTunes, which makes sense since it's an Apple product. I've had my Mac for 4 years and am wanting to upgrade, but just because I want the bigger screen. It still works great.
I've been in my job for 3 years and am on my third HP. It seems to crash more and has had way more issues than my Mac. |

You could repartition the hard drive and reinstall the OS just in case. |

Location: Canada | I have a MacBook Air and its so light and fast, it's not the cheapest laptop on the market but if you want to have a laptop for the longterm I highly suggest going Mac. I use it for school and charges super fast too, last 12 hrs. Once you go Mac, you never go back. But I could be MacBook biased |

| I love our MacBook! It's great, works great and so easy to use. And I actually know a lot of other students that use a MacBook for schoolwork and haven't had any problems. But if you want something a little less expensive, I have a Samsung laptop as well and it works great, has windows 8 (I believe) and easy to use. And not too bad price wise either! |

I love this MacBook. And I figured out how to transfer all my 1000s of songs in iTunes without getting mad and doing it one by one. I LOVE IT. Best choice by far. Now, what I need to do is buy a cover! Any suggestions? |

A system restore to factory settings. It will usually ask whether you want to repartition the hard drive or not. (erases everything off hard drive) |

So, if you were to do that it would erase any virus or anything on the computer? Does it work the same for a PC? |

I got a new HP laptop in December. Had Window's 8 on it, no tenager around for help, so found someone who had a copy of Window 7. Had him wipe Windows 8 off and install Windows 7. Turned my life around! I hated Windows 8!
Any laptop you buy now comes with Windows 8! |
