| I've got a coming two year old filly with one crooked leg, I bought her as a wealing and it hasnt really came up crooked until now. My farrier has been taking her toe down to help it.
Its her right front and her knee is straight, but shes crooked to the insde from her fetlock down.
Is this something I should be very concerned with? shes as sound as can be on it. does anyone's horses have a crooked leg?
My farrier thinks he can straighten it out somewhat with trimming. But its pretty crooked.... ahh |

Location: Kansas | Define crooked? Because my mare has a crooked from leg and she can peel the paint off a barrel with how tight she turns.
Don't have your farrier attempt to straighten it, it will cause more damage to the leg. He just needs to trim in the direction of the growth. My mare will wear the outside of the hoof down, and the inside will grow long. And when she walks you can definitely see the crookedness in the bone.
But I've never had any lameness issues with her, I just have a special barefoot farrier trim her...she has been trimming my mare for 3 years now |

| She would be very pidgin toed on her right front, and her left is as straight as can be, and she has straight knees.
He is taking a lil extra toe/inside off of her, her heel also collapses a bit on that side, he mostly tries to even her up |

Location: The Great Northwest | Agree don't try to change what you may see as crooked at two years of age. I would keep the hoof as balanced as possible. You could also have x-rays done to check balance and angle as to the coffin bone as a guide. |

Yeah you want him to even her up, that is exactly what my farrier has done....I haven't had shoes on my mare in over 2 years (more afraid to cripple her), huge difference in the way she travels onces she is evened out. |

| I would want X-rays before I send her to a trainer just to make sure there isn't a deformity as I don't want to waste my money training if she isn't going to make a barrel horse |
