Who owns them, or has owned them?  Just share photos....

We just "rescued" another Aussie from city life.  We won't keep him as we had just purchased an Aussie puppy, but we have several potential farm homes lined up for him.

I love my mini.  She's so full of personality but very timid, which I like.  She's also quite the brat, if my daughters lab comes in before she does she'll take off & hide & I have to go look for her because she won't come when called.  It's really sucked the last couple weeks when I let them out right before bed & I have to go out in arctic conditions to find her.

This is Jax.  He is an 18 month old red merle.  He was owned by a teenager.  She BAWLED her eyes out when she had to give him up :(:(:(:(

I have friends who've had them and I've house sat for some and always enjoyed them. My boyfriend's uncle recently lost his old lab and has decided on an Aussie pup for their next dog. Wish we weren't so far away (Northern MI) or I'd see if he would be interested in rescuing.. I suppose I could ask him as you never know. But I think he's pretty set on a puppy.

Just saw the picture you posted -- he's beautiful! Why did she have to get rid of him?

My mini, Tuffy, is my travel buddy. He goes just about everywhere with me and never causes a problem. He will lay around inside with me or go outside and follow the horses while I exercise them in the big hay fields. He gets along with every dog he's ever met except my brother's heeler/terrier mix puppy, who bites Tuffy and then gets growled at in return. I think when the puppy grows up, they'll become friends but right now Tuffy has minimal patience for Bandit.

GORGEOUS!!!

We have now rescued four.  The first one we were intending to keep, but the situation changed when a dear friends Aussie passed of old age and we knew things were just meant to be, so he went to live them with.

Unfortunately the second one had to be euthanized due to severe aggression.  We tried for 8 months to rehab him but after each of us getting bitten way to many times we had to make a safe choice for everyone.

The third one was "saved" by BHW.  He too came from the city. I had just come home with my 3 year old gelding after paying a 4k vet bill for a fractured face, a 3k vet bill for cancer surgery on Gunner, moving to MO, and numerous other things.  This guy broke his femur bone clean in half and I didn't have the money to help him.  BHW members donated money and together we got him into a rescue in Atlanta who did his surgery and found him a home.

Then there is Jax.  I coudln't say no to helping him.

Lucy is the only one I have left... She is 9, and pretty crippled up, but she is a great dog--though rather neurotic. My 2 year old son has claimed her as "my dog" and most recently has begun using her as a stand in for his calf roping dummy--I don't let him have an actual rope, for Lucy's sake, but he still uses his imagination and "ties" her up. Or he covers her with his blankies, or lays on her, and she has become the world's most patient dog, God bless her.

 photo 70_zps86264fb9.jpg

 photo Lucy014.jpg

I lost my male a little over two years ago, and I still miss him dearly. He was the best dog ever.
Leo photo Leo.jpg

Ol' Blue Eyes photo LeoBoy.jpg

I raised a few litters of puppies before Lucy's accident, and a couple of BB's have a pup of mine (I'll spare you all and not post a bunch of puppy pics). I'm getting close to where I want a pup again, since Leo's gone. My son is getting old enough to have one around and be buddies with. Now, I just have to convince my husband we need another aussie, NOT a dang hunting dog.

Thanks! He is pretty sure he's a big dog.....just yesterday I had to call him off from herding Brett's horse for me. We let him work the sheep & goats but not cattle as he's only 20 pounds. My uncle has a standard Aussie and I am so glad I got a mini because he fits in the truck a lot easier than Frost's dog would. lol. I needed a travel buddy and he's been absolutely perfect. Not sure I'll ever be without an Aussie of some size.

I love my aussie but he I do think he would do better if he had a job like working cattle cuz he is too smart for his own good!!   So i try to keep him occupied with bones and playing as much as i can!!  i can't imagine keeping one in the city!!

ETA He is only 3 and is already having some hip issues.  Anyone else seeing this with their aussies?    O yes and he loves the snow!!!  when we get the fresh stuff he will cry and cry until we let him out to play in it and he wont come in until he's a big snow ball!!

I love these threads! :)

my Winston(Winnie) is a mini aussie and is 2 years old. I just love him to pieces :) Had some trouble with aggression kind of early on. after we got him cut and had a big move from the city to a farm he's done a total 180 with his temperament. I have to watch him to make sure, because he's very intuitive of people he doesn't like and sounds the bark alarm when someone he doesn't like comes anywhere near me. He LOVES hanging out in the barn and doing obstacle courses over jumps and things! Winnie is my child :)

We have a toy … well, she's bigger than she should be … she is timid and neurotic .. afraid of the fireworks, rain, lightening and thunderstorms and cows … however, she loves to go for car rides! She's 7 now and she seems to struggle a little bit with the walking. We had her spayed, so she never had a litter … so she's a little on the chunky side. We're working on that in hopes that it will help her joints.

I just lost my 10 month old mini... she got scared NYE and ran and I found her two days later but it was too late.. she got hit on a highway.  She was extremely timid with everyone else but attached to my hip, she went everywhere with me.  If I was to get another dog, it would be an Aussie in a heartbeat.

Mine are not full blood Austrailian Shepherds, I am not sure what they are mixed with.

They are full brother and sister and look and act nothing alike.  They would be lost without each other though.  We have had them a year in October.

Spuds the white and red one is the sweetest little thing you will ever see.  She can work a cow like no other and she has had not formal training.  She has a very rare sickness but she is still a little go getter.

Pete the blue dog is so very timid but it my little (big) bud.  At 6 months he weighed 35 pounds.  Not sure how much he weighs now.  He is more of a homebody and won't go out and ride with me he also isn't very good with cows.  He will circle them to keep them put but won't go out and gather.  He is also my protector.  We had one of our other dogs shaved he didn't recognize her and was going to keep her from getting to close to me.

Love my "Pups"...

Here is my Molly. She is getting old and gray these days but she is the biggest sweetheart! When I started having babies I was nervous that I would have to get rid of her since she was always VERY stand-offish with the neighbor kids, etc. I thought she would possibly bite my kids. I couldn't have been more wrong. She would protect my kids to the bitter end. She never misses an opportunity to steal kisses from them too. Such a great dog!

Haha Yes he has gained some winter weight. Interesting to see how thick he is when he gets shaved this spring. Hammer has tennis balls everywhere! He eats his in half also, used to have a rope but lost interest on that before he was a year old. Tennis ball has been his one and only since he was 8 wks old, he is now 5!

Here's my Ty! He's 4 this May. I'm posting a baby pic of him too since I'm thinking Bodacious looks a lot like Ty did! Here's what your Bo might look like soon!!

Was thinking of rescuing this one from the animal shelter.   She is only a year old and underweight.   She is a mix, but I'm not sure what with?

Scout1320 - 2014-01-10 2:58 PM We recently lost Bonnie.  She was a Aussie/Border Collie cross.  She was my hubby's very best buddy, and we are still heartbroken she is gone...  Missing her bunches...

I used to breed Aussie's, every once in a while we would have one of our other stock dogs breed a female. I loved the Border/Aussie cross and my husband and BIL loved the Heeler/Aussie cross.  The heeler/aussie cross pups sold like hot cakes to the guys in S. TX needing cattle dogs.

My current Aussie is going to have a date in the spring. Straight up Aussie if that goes well I want to put her with a bad--- Kelpie dog we have here in the county. I've watched (my parents trial) some pretty nice dogs, they never had anything that could have touched this dude. I know your in our area so look us up.  I do believe this will be an awesome cross for someone needing a "grip" dog that can also function as pops loyal pal.

OP, what I can't stand is someone getting a dog that just isn't right for them in the first place. I stopped breeding for this reason. I have a beautiful red merle in every way except she flunked out of herding lessons (thanks to a multiple fractured jaw). So many have wanted a pup from her that I'm caving in. Have a gal moving to the area with a handsome black tri. she seems to have good contacts so I'm going to go with this but in my mind I'm praying for responsible future owners.

Love our blue merle boy! Deuce is 6 months old and has the best personality! We have always had labs so this was a new breed for us but no regrets. He even fetches like our labs and loves water almost as much.

(Not sure how to attach a picture...sorry!)

Hanna Banana! Hanna has the following kills under her belt: the entire seat of an atv, full deer neck/head mount, several hundred dollars worth of landscaping including a weeping willow tree, air conditioner wiring and insulation, countless toys and currently a cow leg.
