| It might also honestly be hair extensions. You can get them fairly good priced nowadays. |

This is what I believe. There are a lot of people who dye their hair too much. Along with that they blow dry, straighten, curl, etc. multiple days out of the week. One solution is to put in a light mousse and foam rollers at night (for a curly look). As for straight I'm unsure, possibly a wax or gel? Also, I braid my hair on days that I don't want to style it. It's the same belief that is used to grow out horses tails. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I usually have really long hair (to my belt) but my hair is thin. The ends break really easy and it never keeps a curl. I cut it for the 2nd time ever during Christmas to shoulder length (just long enough for a pony tail). It is super straight when long and when short, has a cute wave and some bounce. I'm on the fence on whether to grow it back out or keep it short.
I use really $$$ shampoo and conditioner to keep it healthy. Deep conditioning is really important too, but I hate to and usually don't. I also take prenatal vitamins, they are great for your fingernails and hair. |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I've always had really long hair! Long story short I fried my hair really bad so I chopped it off...has taken awhile but I'm finally getting it back to the way I like it. I try not to wash it everyday. I feel like my hair is better when I go a couple days without which is sometimes hard because I have super oily hair but I put baby powder on my roots and off I go! I also try not to straighten, blow dry or curl too much. I love braiding my hair and I like to use headbands a lot. I've really been trying to find cute ways to do my hair without heat. |

| I envy everyone that has long hair! I have very natural curly hair that is fine and thin, when I try to grow it out it is frizzy no matter what. The best length for me is just above the shoulders and layered. I only dry the top and then use gel on the rest and leave it alone. It is kinda opposite to what most people would think but in the summer I have to have a touch more length so I can get it off of my neck or else it really curls and hold the sweat. In the winter I can get by with less length. At almost 52 yrs. old I think I have given up on ever having long hair. Makes me sad!

Location: My own little world :) | Thanks guys!! SO many ideas to try! What kinds of shampoos, conditioners, and deep conditioners/treatments do you use?
I struggle because I have a lot of hair but it is really fine. Every time someone new does my hair they are amazed at how much I have but its so fine I suppose I don't look like I have what I have. And it seems like it takes forever to grow but maybe that is because it is so fine it breaks a lot.
I agree if you want to grow out your hair you shouldn't style with heat and what not everyday. If I did the full on curl everyday I probably wouldn't have any hair! |

Location: Washington | My hair is thin but I use a hair, skin and nail supplement with extra biotin, 5000 mcg. I've tried others but this one, with that much extra biotin, had made my hair grow like crazy. I haven't trimmed it since the beginning of July and have no split ends. I dont use high end shampoo or conditioner but make sure to use the conditioner to make for easier brushing. I also rarely wear it up. |

Location: Montana | I used to have long hair (clear to my waist) and I didn't do anything special. But from what I have read is everyone's hair is different and they have different lengths they grow to and then it kind of starts thinning out (mine was waist length). But skin, hair, and nails vitamins do a good job. My hair grows fast and is pretty thick, so it didn't need much help. |

Location: NW MT | I started taking flax seed oil a few yrs ago to help lower cholesterol & the added benefit was my hair went crazy growing & getting thicker! My hairdresser can't believe how fast it grows & the weirdest part is, I have new hair where I NEVER have had it - in the "widow's peak" area of my scalp. She is amazed how much new hair I have every time I come in for a cut. I "had" to let it grow out cuz I could not afford to get it cut every 2-3 wks to keep a short style. Euchee - don't give up hope - I am 61!!! wanted to add: My mom used to have thick hair when she was young & since her 40's or 50's, it got really thin - & my dad is bald - so if it's genetics only, I shouldn't have all this hair! LOL

| I have this crazy curly long thick mane...it has it's own life. I only shampoo it once a week, I use just conditioner the rest of the time. I don't use a comb or a brush, fingers only. A few times a year, I get the ends trimmed, but only 1/2" or so. I get a deep conditioning done whenever my hair gets to fuzzy, that means it's too dry. I also don't use anything but a cloth scrunchii for my pony tails. A lot of the time it's balled up under a baseball cap. I leave it alone as much as possible, don't blow dry, color, straighten, curl, etc. just Moroccan oil and mousse and out the door. |

Location: Monticello, AR | Mine has been short for a number of years, but I got tired of looking like a boy so am growing it back out long enough to pull back in a ponytail. I have been getting it trimmed every 6 weeks....my hairdresser said that is the key. Keep it trimmed on a regular basis. And that may not be the best advice, but it seems to be helping me out a lot!! I never got it trimmed on a regular basis when it was long...and I have fine thin hair. But we will see....I may get some flax seed oil too!! |

Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | I recently started using this shampoo and conditioner called milkshake by z.one it smells like vanilla cake and gets my hair squeaky clean without leaving residue. And the conditioner works so well it's like a gel. It came in a box with a conditioning mousse that you put on damp hair and my hair has never felt better. It's not cheap but oh so worth it. I have long highlighted hair and have to shower daily otherwise my scalp is too oily for public lol |

Location: Stephenville, TX | I used to blow dry my hair everyday, but haven't for about 5+ years now. Only when I absolutely have to...maybe a couple times a year. And I quit using a straightening iron on it too. My hair has never been healthier! I color it regularly (no highlights though) and it's still healthy. My hair is thick and past the middle of my back. It'll grow longer, but gets heavy, so I keep it at this length.
I have started getting keratin treatments on it. They smooth out your hair so it stays naturally straight, cuts the frizz and it dries WAY faster. I've found doing this is a lot easier on my hair than the products and flat iron I used to use on it to get the same look. I've only had it done twice, but my stylist lady says the more you get them done, the longer they last. So if you're a blow dryer and a flat iron user, you might think about a keratin treatment. |

I love WEN products! I have long, thick hair that is naturally curly and I started going gray at 18, so at 38 years old, my hair has had a lot of color. I love WEN products, because my hair stays tamed, not frizzy and out of control. |

| I haven't had a hair cut since my 2nd son was born 2 yrs ago. Mostly because I just don't have time. My hair is almost to my but. Prenatal vitamins will make your hair grow like crazy. You can take them even if you are not pregnant. |

I agree with this post! I have never done anything special to my hair, and have had it long for the past five years. I don't usually blow dry my hair or curl it, and have only ever dyed it once. |

I would agree its all about genetics. I don't take vitamins, don't eat 100% healthy, don't use expensive shampoo and conditioner, I blow dry my hair and on occasion I straighten plus its colored regularly to cover up premature gray. Its always been very long. |

I am the daughter of a eccentric hair dresser so my hair has been died at least every 2 months since I was 13. Sometimes several times a month. Plus heat, daily at times. My hair was dry, frizzy, stressed, just terrible. Spent tons of $ a month on expensive deep conditioning products. I love wen. It literally saved my hair, its the only thing I use now, no more deep conditioning or masks. When I go out I only have to blowdry, no more following with a straightener as its not frizzy anymore and my hair has grown 2" and I am only on my 2nd month! |

Location: Oklahoma or who knows maybe trucking ? | I use Pureology shampoo and conditioner, My hair is just above my belt and I high light it every 6-8 weeks I blow dry it curl it and wash it as much as I want to. I didn't use to be able to do all that until I started using that shampoo . My hair use to not grow at all it use to be just above my bra , then when I started using that shampoo about 2 years ago my hair just took off and is healthier than it has ever been. I can cut 3-5 inches off every few visits to my beautician and it grows right back . No vitamins, pills or anything just shampoo and conditioner. |

Location: Where we still run to look when the siren goes by. | I used to take my long, thick, hair for granted until one summer I went down south and spent too much time in the ocean, sun, pool, coloring, straightening, curling, and just generally not taking care of my hair...I had to get about 10" of fried hair cut off.. I think I cried! After that I was so, so careful and was able to grow it back to where it was. Now my hair is down past the middle of my back and I use just cheap shampoo and conditioner that you can get at WalMart. I also take prenatal vitamins and love my Moroccan Oil.
I have a good friend that is a hairdresser and I have tried about every $$$ fancy shampoo & conditioner and honestly can't tell a difference between those and the moisturizing kind I get at WalMart. Just smells better
Like others said, I think a lot is genetics and what you put in your body. |

I will agree with the extensions at least with celebrities. Most all of the celebs who have long luscious looking hair are wearing extensions. Heck a lot of regular folks wear extensions too. |
