I've seen a few reiners in my area use polo wraps underneath their skid boots.
Anyone know why or if this would affect anything?
I've always been curious and I assume that at least 1 person on here uses or has used skids and can tell me the secret ways of the magical boot!

Polo wraps for support skid boots for protection and so you don't burn through your polos when you stop hard, roll backs, etc. it is pretty easy to burn through polo wraps if you are really doing a lot of slides, rollbacks etc.

The polos are used for support sometimes but for most of us who do this it's because the horse has been rubbed raw from the skid boots just under the fetlock. The polos help protect that area from the leather rubbing. I have learned over the years to not clip leg hair which helps some horses, but there is always that one horse with thin skin.
