Location: Texas | I have recently gotten engaged. I want you guys to share some pictures from any of your western weddings just for some ideas. I've been pinning lots of stuff on pinterest and have a pretty good idea of what I want just want, just want to see some photos. I have my dress picked out and I'm looking for bridesmaid dresses now. I am not totally sure if I will have 4 or 5 bridesmaids. Most of them aren't little bitty, but regular sized ladies, so trying to find a dress that will be versatile on all the different body styles and that will look good with boots. I'm not doing too casual but it won't be too formal either. It will probably be an evening wedding, with my colors being turquoise (not the blue turq but more of the teal/mint/aqua), pink, black and silver with burlap and lace accents. I haven't decided on flowers yet either. Any advice on planning? |

Location: NE Oklahoma | Instead of posting my pictures I'll direct you to my Facebook where I have lots and lots posted from our wedding. https://www.facebook.com/lisa.dennis21 I did burlap and lace decor with mason jars and it turned out really nice. My bridesmaids all wore black dresses with cowboy boots. What I did with the dresses was pick out three different styles and then my bridesmaids picked out the style that they felt most comfortable in and they were all the same color. My biggest items on the planning list to do first was bridesmaids dresses, groomsman attire, venue (the good ones book way far in advance), DJ, and catering. Flowers I ordered wholesale from fiftyflowers.com. They were MUCH less expensive than ordering through a florist and they worked great! We did a test run of ordering what we thought we wanted for flowers to see how they would hold up. For invitations, bridesmaid gifts, etc I used Etsy a lot. You can find great ideas and handmade gifts on there for very reasonable prices. I am an event planner for a living so it wasn't a terrible experience for me. PM me anytime! |

Location: Deep South | I'm in the middle of planning mine, so I'm right there with ya! The very first thing I did was set a date and book the venue. The venue I chose was already completely booked one year out and starting to fill up for the next year, so it was important to secure my date. You also have to have a guest list estimate to do just about anything.
Thriftiest tip I've used during my experience is that all of my vendors so far offer discounts for weddings that are scheduled on any day other than Saturday, so we are having a Friday night wedding! This has saved me thousands!
And this is the number one piece of advice I'm clinging to so that I do not allow myself to become overwhelmed, or stress the details.

Location: Texas | Thank you both, great advice. I have the venue chosen and it's open for the two dates we have it narrowed down to (waiting on my future husband to nail down some of his rodeos to see which one). It's a building so there will be lots of decorating on my part. I have several ideas and things that I've started working on, but trying to get some other ideas. |

Location: Nebraska | Planning my wedding was a disaster lol. We won a venue at a bridal fair, only to find out they double booked it 2 months before our actual wedding. That venue provided the food and alcohol too so we ended up having to find a venue, a caterer, and a bar that were open on our date. Our DJ we booked also screwed us over (also booked at the bridal fair) and we ended up having to find a new one within 3 weeks of our wedding.
I used all fake flowers and all the mason jars I could find (I think I only bought one set new) for the reception. We used Christmas lights too along the table, which you could probably find really cheap this time of year. I bought my dress off eBay. It was custom made to fit me and cost about $300 shipped. I tried on so many dresses but I'm short with no boobs so I would have paid that in alterations alone anywhere else. We had a party hayrack instead of a bus which was cheaper and just as fun.
Our wedding was so much fun! Oh, the wedding party dance was the "When will I be Loved" from 8 seconds :) Mostly everyone learned the dance so it was pretty cool to watch! |

But it was suppose to be outside and ended up being 89*F that day so we moved it in. And i found out the hard way dont buy your dress way out in advance. Mine fit me when i tried it on and everything ordered it got it and the day of my wedding it was to big !

Location: If I ever get back to Oklahoma..... | We got married in 2009. The wedding was at the local state lake in one of the stone shelter houses, and the reception we had at my husband's family's farm. His dad cooked the meat, and friends cooked the rest of the meal. We had a beautiful day. It rained in the morning and cleared off which for Kansas in July 80 degrees is awesome! Here's a few pics.
My dress i found on Ebay and paid about $120 for. It came with an $800 price tag, and had to have some alterations because I'm so short. Alot of other decorations I found on sale. I never did add up what we spent on the wedding, but I think the most expense came from the photographer. I wanted nice photos to remember the day, and I think we accomplished that!

| how do you post pictures on here?
I saved a lot of $$ by using "recycled" stuff from a compiled source of feed store refuse, discarded junk, and stuff left over from a friend's wedding that May. (We were married September of 2013.) We also had friends offer to cater for us if we paid for the cost of the food and I am part of the rodeo committee so we used the Rodeo Hall at a big discount.

For those of you that have used mason jars at your wedding, PLEASE post pictures so I can show her. The venue is the most expensive cost of their wedding. She made her own invitations and they have come out beautiful. A high school friend of my sons is a photographer, so he is doing the wedding at a reduced price. As much as they are budget conscious, weddings are very costly these days. |

I used pint size and really small jelly jars on the tables with flowers in them. As gifts we did the mason jars w/ handles with a kraft paper label on them for guests to write their names. |

Love your wedding cake! Great pictures too! Thanks for sharing. Did your attendant wear boots with her long dress, I can't tell. I'm trying to decide if I want short or long bridesmaid dresses. I originally wanted shorter dresses (knee length or right below) with boots but I'm not sure that will look great on all my girls. If I do long I don't think I will have them wear boots. |

Location: Desert Land | I got married last summer. You will see my bridesmaids are a variety of shapes, so I chose a dress with an A-line cut and only fitted in the bust, so that was it was flattering for everyone. My coolors were turquoise and lime green. Nice evening June wedding at a Winery. I loved it. My advice for planning - DON'T SLACK!!! www.theknot.com will be your friend. People book venue, photographer, DJ, etc. so far in advance so you can get a good one. I had to do some last minute booking and got lucky I ended up with great vendors.

It was about 115 degrees out that day, and it was an outdoor wedding/reception. I did the mason jar center piece also.

I want to do burlap roses in the blue/turq looking mason jars for some decorations. I'm not sure how hard it is to make the burlap roses, but I love them. I'm doing turq but more of an aqua/seafoam turq instead of the blue turq and then pink, black, silver, with burlap, lace, mason jar accents. |

You should be able to buy the burlap in "rolls" just like ribbon now. I know at Joann's you can buy it by the yard too. Or shop on line. Fabric Guru's is great to work with. |

I did as much of it myself as I could. I made our invitations, programs, spray painted all the flowers, made bouquets, our family made the food, photographer was free, cakes were free, hubby made the cedar fence and we still went way over budget. Lol.
