Some of you remember the mare I puchased last spring, By Divine Right.

Her foal, JW Divino Commento, won at Louisiana Downs on the 14th in a $5000 claiming race.

Thanks :) I can not wait to get back to the track. I get so excited when it's just a baby out of one of my mares. I am going to stroke out when I finally get one back in the starting gate lol.

I was telling my neighbor about your stud yesterday but I could not remember your horses name at the time but anyway, was telling him that he was a son of Streakin Six  and so he was asking me what kind of speed index does he have. I told him I would be asking you.

A whooping 69 SI. One race. In his defense, he only had three legs at the time.

He had a bad wire cut on two of his legs when he was a yearling. They raced him once anyways. I don't know why. His back leg gives out if you ride him too hard and that is from the wire cut. It's an ugly scar. He can take moderate riding fine, but I have no idea why they tired to race him like that. I'm guessing to try to recoup some of the money they put in to him, but who knows.

Thats to bad that they tryed to race him. Well at least he's got a home thats care for him and wont put him threw any more hard times. And I know that he gets his fair share of beer so I know that has got to make him really happy, and watching his kids play out in the pastures too

lol....he's got it pretty easy now. He's ridden every once in a while, when I feel like hauling my butt up on him, but other than that he's got it made. My little niece rides him every once in a while too.

Hey, good for you, LRQHS.  I can just imagine track security, "We got a bunch of women trying to make it to the owner's box...they keep shouting something about 'Beer' and 'BHW.'  We are going to need some back up down here ASAP!"

That would be cool to watch! I love horse racing! :)
Then I could say, "I know who owns that horse!"

I'm thinking that is exactly how that would go!  LOL

No. When I race, it's only in LA. I'm excited about this race lol, but you should see me when it's actually my horse and I'm at the track. I'm like Walter Matthau in Casey's Shadow when he wins the All American. I'm skipping and jumping and woohoooing lol.....and, that's just when they're saddling them in the paddock lol...

One of the best times I've ever had was when one of the foals that I sold was racing. In Louisiana, we get breeder's awards even after we've sold the horse if they win 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a Louisiana Accredited race in the state. The breeder's incentive is twenty something percent of whatever the purse for the race is. I've won over $2000 at a time for races that my sold babies raced in, so it can be pretty exciting. Anyways, I was working in the ER at that time and a bunch of my co-worker's came to Evangeline Downs. We got four tables on the window in the restaurant. None of them knew anything about horses. They were asking me my picks, some where betting colors, some were betting numbers or would pick a horse they thought was pretty lol.....we had buckets of beer delivered to the tables and were eating fried pickles. It was awesome! Someone would win every race...usually more than one and they would buy more beer with there winnings. My filly came out third. A lot of us went down to the wire for her race and I just remember being so excited and having so many friends with me. She walked right in front of us going to the paddock and everyone was so impressed with her. It just was a great, great night. I would love to do it again.

It won't be too much longer lol. I have a just turned 2 year old filly that will be a distance horse. Hopefully, towards the end of the year, she'll be ready. And, I have two I'm saving for next year. One is the one in my avatar. She's the cousin to PJ Chick in Black. I would be the happiest girl on the planet if some of you could make it down for a race :)

We have a yearling that we bred specifically bred to run around the turn.  So in two more years we will see!  It's so exciting to watch one that you bred and raised go to the track.

So, are you trying for 300 yard, 400 yard, 450 yard, or 600 yard racers? What distance when you say longer? The 600 yard races here are a lot of fun because they can be TB or QH...I especially love it when the QH's beat the TB's. :-) I love TB's though too...any horse racing is fun. :-)

The 2 year old and her yearling sister are from the same dam. I put them for sale sometimes on my Facebook page, but my goal is to race them. They are out of my one TB mare, Bluffin Rail. She raced in a few QH races. She would run 4 1/2 to 6 furlongs. She ran for $93,000, had 43 starts, 7 wins, 6 seconds and 4 thirds. Earning $2166 per start. So, they will, hopefully be my 870 yd horses...fingers crossed. I know they are fast and they are mean lol. The filly in my avatar should be a shorter distance horse. Her dam has had 3 to race, 2 stakes winner's, 3 winner's and 2 with SI >100. So, we'll see :) She has a brother that is up to $97,000 now.

Here's Rail's equibase record.

http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=5317624®istry=T

ETA: LOL, y'all have me all excited talking about race horses now. I wanted to add that Bluffin Rail, even with all of those outs, retired 100% sound. Hard to believe.
