The top 10 from each qualifer race will run in Mesquite. The top 5 after 2 runs go to Arlington to join Charmayne and the 2013 top 10 to run.

The side pot of $1,000,000 will be divided among any qaulifers- not invited top 10, who wins their event at the American Rodeo Finals. Adds a little enticement to pay the $500 entry fee.

| And you can compete on 2 horses at the semi-finals in Mesquite, but you can only complete on 1 horse at the final rodeo in Arlington. The NFR qualifiers from last year (who weren't in the top 10) couldn't outrun the qualifiers in AZ! Sherry even ran Stingray in the Open race and wouldn't have been fast enough. Putting some of those those 1D jackpot horses who don't have much rodeo experience in a rodeo environment might change things up a bit. | |

Location: The Great Northwest | This is how it reads from the rules I have: Contestants entering more than once at the qualifiers must do so on different horses. If a contestant happens to qualify for the Semi-Finals 2 times, they will need to do so on a different horse. A contestant cannot qualify more than once on the same horse. Better Barrel Races or BBR are the sanctioning body. I still think they may have one contestant on two horses qualifing for the American. The rules are as clear as mud!

I was thinking about that last night. It's going to be a tough pen!! Stingray usually runs a 16+ second run at that pen, she must have not been on her game, however, George does hold the arena record. Hmm, I wonder what horse Sherry is going to bring to the American? Is it going to be a small pen or a large one?

Christy LAUGHLIN is also from CO and was the one that has more than one qualified.
Christy LOFLIN only has the one qualification.
Christy & Christine both ran at Mountain States Circuit Finals, not confusing at all!

| Your right. I really messed up the 2 "Chrisities", didn't I. Wasn't there a movie called "The Heather's " years ago? Well a bit OT. Either way, I will be going to Mesquite. That will be a barrel race NOT to miss!! | |

The NFR qualifiers from last year (who weren't in the top 10 ) couldn't outrun the qualifiers in AZ! Sherry even ran Stingray in the Open race and wouldn't have been fast enough. Putting some of those those 1D jackpot horses who don't have much rodeo experience in a rodeo environment might change things up a bit.
I felt the run on Stingray at Buckeye was a nice safe run. Has Stingray ever run a 16 second or so run there? What size pen is Arlington in seconds?

I find it hard to believe that Sherry wasn't trying to win money with her run, because she didn't even place in the 1D money in the Open with her run. Also, Fallon and Brittany couldn't make it either and they were trying with their NFR mounts. Again though, running on good ground is much different than most rodeo ground. Stingray probably could have made that same run in the warm up pen (which was rock hard), where others that did qualify would have struggled.
They have never had a rodeo or race in Arlington so who knows how they'll set the pattern. Could end up being like Houston and set a tiny pattern at one end of the arena to make room for the stage. Who knows.

In addition, organizers will designate a $1 million “side pot” for non-credentialed competitors who earn the right to compete through qualifying rodeos in cities such as Mesquite, San Angelo and Amarillo. If a no-name competitor defeats the all-star cast of riders in an event, that person will receive $1 million. If more than one non-credentialed competitor wins a single event title, the $1 million will be split.
According to this description, my underrstanding would be that if a barrel racer was the only "non NFR Top 10 qualifier" who won the event she/he would win the $100,000 PLUS $1 million....IF two (or more) "non" Top 10 Qualifier contestants (ie. a barrel racer and a bullrider) win their respective events they would split the $1 million by that number (2 or more). no name???????? what a horrible description
Well........if they out run, out ride, out rope, or out wrestle the "all-star"....they certainly won't be a "no name" for long!

They clearly did not think through their rules very carefully, because in their "no-name" category (aka: the Qualifiers) you have former NFR qualifiers and million dollar earning futurity riders. They are definitely not a "no-name", and are read about in BHN a lot!
