I don't see the picture.?? I sure hope not!!! Where did your alfalfa come from? There was a thread not to long ago that they are showing up in other places besides the usual ;( ;(

Oh it came up. The part just behind the head looks too big but I'm certainly not an expert! But i thought they were more elongated. ?? Can you get a close up of the head thorax and mouth parts? Maybe we have a resident entomologist on here. Any one locally you can take it to?

I don't think it is but I could be wrong.  I think blister beetles have much smaller heads than that one and a smaller center body part that attaches to the bigger back end if you know what I mean.  That one in your picture looks more like a dung beetle or stink bug as we call them than a blister beetle.  I found a picture of a carpet beetle that looks like the one you posted -- maybe.  Hope some others chime in case I am wrong though.
