So my good friend is getting married this summer. She has decided to get married in her back yard but she is wanting to shoot off fireworks. So she asked me if i can keep her horses at my place which I of course told her i would but i'm concerned.... She hasn't given her horses shots in years and last year had one die of West Nile. are there any extra precautions i can take?
ETA she claims she worms them regularly but by the looks of them they are really wormy....

I would just keep them seperate from your horses and make sure your horses are up to date on everything. If its just for a day or two it is not that bad. Good friends are hard to find!

Help her find an alternative "day care" An empty pasture with good fences. Set up a round pen at your place, that contains the poop for easier disposal. Ask that she gets her horses vaccinated prior to bringing on your property.

tell her you won't take them unless they are UTD on shots & coggins.
and even then, i would keep them away from your horses.
Living in the boonies, even with fireworks being illegal we have some pretty big boomers very close every year. I have a few that watch them, a few that use them as an excuse to run around with flagged tails for a while, and this year they didn't even pay attention.
OR - three horses in a round pen for overnight is nbd, unless they would eat each other. Have her drop off a few bales of hay and keep them occupied with food for the duration.
When the bridal shower happens .... as part of your present all wrapped up pretty and fancy ..........
order some wormer and shots from Jeffers and give her a coupon for 3 bales of free hay at your place when you keep the horses.....
and go out and give the shots and wormer during the shower .... TRIPLE EFT is the one I would give since it is the only one that gives immunity to the diseases it contains .... there is no immunity in all the other misc vaccines.
This should happen at least 2 weeks prior to coming to your barn ...
I would be more concerned that her 5 dogs would take off from your place unless you had a good pen to keep them in ....
