I look like a wayward child in the summer, but that's probably not what you are looking for is it? My cowgirl face is always dirty!

i have horrible skin, but my "face lady"- sorry i don't know the correct term (i get micro derm every so often) got me to try jane iredale-it has def helped my skin, it doesn't clog your pores so i break out less. its pretty pricey though (to me). if you get this let me know how it works, i'm always up for saving some $

I've never heard of cowgirl dirt makeup but your skin sounds like mine and I like medium to full coverage too so I wanted to share what I've found that I like and is affordable. First thing I put on is a thin layer of Milk of Magnesia. Yep, you read that right. I saw the tip online and it WORKS for oil control. Plus out cost like 2 cents a day. In the winter, I follow with a light moisturizer and then foundation. My new fav is by a company called Boots No. 7. I use the Beautifully Matte version and it's like $12 a bottle that lasts forever. It's available at Target but can sell out quickly so I ordered mine from the Walgreens website. I use this for work, going out, etc because I'm like you and just like a mineral type foundation for normal, minimal days.

I have used it for several years and I absolutely love it!! I previously used Bare Minerals and I would choose Cowgirl Dirt over it any day.  When I used Bare Minerals my face would itch when I got hot and that does not happen with Cowgirl Dirt. Absolutely love it!!!

I use bare minerals now and just ordered cowgirl dirt since I ran out of BM.  My face gets dry with the BM so hopefully the CD works a little better!

so does CD hold up better in the elements? or does it pretty much fade off like everything else?

I've learned to love my skin and don't use foundation much anymore, just blush and eye makeup and take it with me. considering I'm a sweater and in the summer I'm pretty sure my make up is all off by the time I get out of the truck at summer races :( I'd like to know if it's worth buying!

I would like to know this as well. I sweat like a stuck hog in the summer so I really only wear makeup in the winter. I enjoy wearing it, so it I hate that it is all gone by the end of the day in summer.

I have dry skin too. They have two different foundation types -  one for light coverage and one for balancing skin color  and hiding blemishes, etc. - I use the light coverage formula and love it!!

I just got me a bunch of samples to try. I've always wanted to try the mineral makeup, but I've never been able to sample them before & find out if I actually like them or if they even match my skin!

Kudos to Cowgirl Dirt for letting you purchase sample sizes to try out!

I only ordered the cream too (in a few different shades). I don't like powder in the winter because of the dryness and I like a little more coverage in the winter. I like a lighter foundation in the summer though so I might try the mineral powder later on. I also ordered a sample of the face serum and a couple blush colors. I was going to try the lip tint but it looked really metallic and a few of the reviews were saying it was metallic and I don't want a high school girl look...lol. i just want a nice semi-matte tint. I liked the colors but just didn't want the matallic shine.

Have you tried Baby Lips by Maybelline? Holy crap I LOVE Baby Lips!

I had the Quenched which is clear & I love it. Asked for more for Christmas & hubby (bless his heart) got me 3 different kinds and none of them were the Quenched! LOL. Turns out I look ok with the Grape Vine color. I usually put regular Chapstick on under them, just bc I'm a Chapstick addict and HATE HATE HATE dry lips.

They don't last for hours, but they don't stain your lips, don't make you look fake, aren't sticky, aren't metallic, and give just enough tint to look nice without the caked on weirdness of lipstick or the stickiness of gloss.

How does it wear in the heat?

I am an Ag Teacher so during Qld summers I am out in the heat A LOT and I am always on the lookout for a good wearing foundation. I like medium to good coverage as I use it as a physical barrier against the sun.

I have started sweating a bit in the terrible heat we have had the last couple of years which doesn't help with longevity.

The last 12 months I have been using Cover Girl whipped and it is one of the better ones but still not perfect by any means.

Ok so I got my samples today and so far I am in LOVE!!! I got a few different shades of the cream foundation and so far I really like it. It went on so smooth and I needed just a tiny bit so the samples will go quite a ways for me.
Here is my review: It covers really well but yet looks like real skin and not cakey or greasy. It has a natural dewy look to it so if you want more of a matte look you could just brush a light powder over top. It also is very blendable so if you want to contour it is very easy to do and get a natural look!! That is my favorite part! I have no idea about wearability or how it handles with heat/sweat since I just threw some on about an hour ago after my shower to try it out and see which shades I liked. Since I really wanted to see how it blended for contouring I did Neutral 3 as my all over face foundation, then Concealer Light under my eyes and Concealer Medium on a little problem spot on my chin, then I did Neutral 1 for my highlight on my T-zone, top of cheeks/under eyes, and chin, then I did Warm 5 under my cheek bones and along the sides of my noze for contouring and defining. Then I brushed the Silk Veil in Buckskin over my whole face to set it. It sounds like a lot but I barely had to use any for it to cover so it feels really light and natural. I don't wear my makeup like this all of the time but when I am going out on a date or a special occasion I like to contour so I really wanted to know how blendable this was. I have never tried the more expensive makeups such as MAC or Urban Decay, etc so I can't compare it to those but I honestly cannot see them being any better than this. Plus Cowgirl Dirt is like $20+ cheaper!! My face has been fairly dry lately because of it being winter and I broke out pretty bad a few weeks ago so I am been hitting it pretty hard with toner to clear it up...lol. So now it is clear but dry. My other makeup looks so chalking with my dry skin but this stuff is like silk and doesn't show the dryness hardly at all!

I hope my review helped anyone that was thinking about trying it out. If you are debating at all go ahead and order some $.99 samples! They will last you a few wears.

I will be ordering some tomorrow for sure! I just want to see how it looks in the natural daylight before I make my final decision on colors.

I can't wait to try it. Always wanted to try the mineral stuff, but could never find a good reason to possible waste a decent amount of money on it. I'm simple. Little concealer. Little foundation. Some mascara and some eye liner and I'm done. LOL

Yeah my everyday going out in public (lol) routine is just a light bit of foundation to just even everything out, a little eyeliner, and some eye shadow. I have natural dark, thick lashes so I rarely use mascara unless wanting a more dramatic look. I also have a natural flush to my cheeks so I don't use blush very often. Less is more most of the time but I do like the contoured look when wanting to really get dolled up.

Have you tried putting on a finishing spray after applying your makeup? It's my best secret to makeup staying on all day and not wearing off. I've used one from Urban Decay and another from Mary Kay.

I ordered a slew of samples.... cream foundation and powder.  I've worn bare minerals for several years, but my skin has gotten really dry this winter.  I'm almost out of foundation so I decided it was a good time to try something else.

Anyone tried the lip glosses or lip tints?

today is the second day of me using the samples i ordered. I ordered the cream foundation, powder foundation, lip tint, and eye makeup remover So far I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I "set" the cream foundation with the powered for even more coverage, but really something transluscent would be fine. The coverage is awesome! Very blendable, not heavy. Lasts all day, from 7 am - 7 pm, even wore it during a 40 min workout, still looks good. I have not tried the powdered foundation alone yet, I am used to that kind though, I've used mineral foundation for at least 10 years. The lip tint is very nice. I ordered seattle slew, but its more brown/red than pink, so I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong one. I am reordering to see if the same color comes again.

the eye makeup remover is thick, sort of a "balm" maybe? so I have to take a few extra seconds to let it " melt " off the makeup. feels hydrating though.

I bought the "neutral" colors #3 and 4. I have dark blonde hair blue eyes, fair/medium skin that burns then tans. both seem to work well with my skin #4 would be more of a summer color for me I think. I wouldn't be afraid to order some of the warm tones, the neutral almost look grayish depending on the light. but really helps even out the redness!

overall I am super happy with it and will be reordering right away!! can't go wrong with the samples, there is about 3+ uses of the cream foundation in that little sample.

Today is the first day that I tried the samples and I love everything so far. I have used Mary Kay and Bare Minerals. Bare Minerals made my face itch when I would sweat. I like Mary Kay but was willing to give Cowgirl Dirt a try.

I love the lip tint and lip gloss. I ordered the Secretariat tint and Gold Buckle Gloss. I love both the colors. The gloss is not sticky or too thick.

I highly recommend ordering the samples and giving Cowgirl Dirt a try. The foundation and mineral powder provide great coverage even for oily/acne prone skin like mine.

This sounds so great but I still need to know the durability lol.

Can anyone help?????

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried putting on a finishing spray after applying your makeup? It's my best secret to makeup staying on all day and not wearing off. I've used one from Urban Decay and another from Mary Kay.

Thank you for the tip - I don't think I have.
Last year I bought a 'refresher spray' that I was told to use during the day and it will help set and refresh the make up. All it does is make my face wet lol. Not really a help at all.

I will probably try the samples of Cowgirl Dirt, they are cheap but the postage becomes very expensive unfortunately. I will look and see if I can find a finisher spray. I am in a small rural community so will probably have to look online.

Is everyone buying the Mineral Powder foundation or the Southern Belle Cream? I am leaning toward the cream just as I have never tried mineral.

OK I took the plunge during my break at school today and have ordered 8 different samples. The most amazing thing was postage price. I know the bottles will be little but postage was still only $10, add a bit for the exchange rate and it was just under $30 which made me happy.

I hope I got the right foundation, I didn't order the mineral foundation. I am now second guessing myself and perhaps I should have ordered some of that too to try lol.

Now I have a long wait for it to turn up. :-)

Well I just ordered $20 worth of samples.  I got 2 or 3 colors in everything to see what works best.  Can't beat a $0.99 sample!  I have worn Bare Minerals in the past but like many said, I wanted to claw my face off anytime I would sweat.
Currently, I wear Merle Norman and it is awesome for full coverage, all day wear.  I just like trying new things, plus I can't lie- it has a LOT to do with the name of the company LOL.

I ordered samples after I read this thread and I love it!!!! The samples are small so I think I'm going to order my foundation and the shade darker sample again to use it a few more times (watching for that imminent breakout) but so far, even in the Florida heat working out and indoors it lasts, doesn't feel heavy, and isn't too pricey!!
Yay!!!!! Finally :)
