What type of flooring do you exerise on? Mostly cardio type exercise with some floor work.
In the past I've always exercised in a spare bedroom that had carpet. We just built a new house and everything has concrete floors. I've seen the interlocking rubber floor panels, 4 x 10' strips of rubber floor but don't know what would offer the best cushion, no skid and no slip on the concrete. Any ideas?

We are building and are putting in a home gym. After researching flooring options decided to do regular flooring like the rest of the house and just put down stall mats. We should have room for 6 mats with the equipment we are putting in.

My gym is in the basement so it's just the cement floor. I plan on doing a floor down there someday but I'll just get some mats for the gym area. Nothing fancy, something with some cushion that will hold up to weights beind dropped.

Our home gym is attached to my husband's shop so it has the same concrete floor & then a thin layer of cheap carpet over top and the rubber mats on top of that.

Maybe look into some dance flooring? When I picture my (dream) home gym area I see it like a dance studio. Or like carpet covered by like interlocking wood floors.....something with a firm surface, yet cushiony.

Stall mats are actually a very good idea. We own a gym in town and have home gym as well. In the home gym there is a rubber mat over carpet, the gym in town is various flooring according to what room. But for free weights etc. stall mats would be great!
