| I know there are a ton of people out there that have it wayyy worse than I could dream of, but could I possibly get a few prayers, good thoughts, etc sent my way this weekend? On Sunday, it'll be 6 months since my 18 year old little brother was beaten to death at a high school party. We still have no leads, the law enforcement has not been helpful, and it is starting to seem hopeless that we will ever know who did this or how it happened. Now, that doesn't change the fact that he is gone. Someone took my baby brother away from us far too soon. As an older sister, it was my job to show him the ropes, teach him things, keep an eye on him. The pain hasn't gotten any better. I am still in shock really.
Sorry for the ramble! Sometimes it's just good to get it out there, part of the healing process I suppose.

| Thank you all. I feel as a family, we are starting to heal a little. Mom has went to a couple barrel races and she swore after it happened, she'd never run again (we were both at an overnight race when we found out what had happened). I have to keep reminding myself that we'll see him again, that he's taking great care of my old horse (lost him this winter too), and if we never find out who did this, God knows and will punish them accordingly. |

| Thank you all so much. I appreciate the prayers and thoughts.I am hoping soon to have SaraJean do a portrait of my brother with my old gelding. I was definitely upset when we lost Scoot but I did find solace in the fact that my brother would have a great mount until we meet again.

| Gracious heavenly Father, please grant this young lady comfort and peace as she mourns the loss of her brother. Give her the peace that can only come from you and allow her to remember her brother with joy rather than sadness. Ease her pain, dear God, and be with her through the days ahead. Father, we pray that those who are responsible for this boy's death will be caught that this family can have closure and carry on with their lives. Please grant them the ability to one day forgive whoever is responsible, just as you forgive us of our transgressions. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray these things. Amen.

| Gosh, I am SO sorry for your loss! Many prayers from Kansas. I would think if this happened at a high school party, someone would open their mouth and give some clues - I hope the police are able to get some leads and bring to justice whoever did this. |

They have had some clues, but apparently not enough evidence to make an arrest. It will all take time, is what they keep telling us. In the mean time, we've been blessed enough to have various people in the community make donations to start a reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever did this. That reward started out at $10k and is now over $40k. We will also be giving a scholarship out through his high school in May, based on community service and an essay on anti-bullying. I miss him every single day. He was an awesome kid, such a hand with a horse, and had just finished up his diesel mechanics classes. He had a gentle soul.
