Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | I've been told that the treeless saddles put all of your weight on the horses spine and can make them sore etc. Whereas regular saddles with trees evenly distribute your weight? I'm needing to buy a new saddle but don't want to hurt my horse with the wrong choice- I love the treeless saddles tight fit. I'm open to any suggestions on a good saddle. |

| That is correct, a tree distributes the weight and protects the horses back. We had a mare who could not have a treeless saddle. I think my inexperienced daughter bouncing around also contributed to her sore back-no tree to protect it. We had to buy a regular saddle.

| I know several overweight people that ride treeless and it doesn't seem to be a problem. A couple of them place in WPRA rodeos regularly. |

Location: Living in my Promised Land | I have ridden treeless and now ride a Double J. The Double J Pozzi holds you in place as close to a treeless saddle as I have ever ridden. It is true about the weight thing. I have read that a maximum of 200 lbs is the most a rider in a treeless saddle should weigh. |

If your dreaming of a nice saddle then a Double J is not what you want, there are much better saddles out there, those are factory made on an assembly line and their quality control lets things out the door that is horrible, I live right here in the Land of Leather ,if you want a nice handmade saddle just right down the road is Ammerman hands down better built |

I'll have to look them up - I havent heard of them, but that isnt surprising because I'm all the way in corrupt Illinois. lol How are they with fitting the horse and rider? |

I think I may just be blinded from the beauty of them- I thought I would love my martha josey circle y but hate it- the only other barrel saddle I have had was a circle y connie combs that I LOVEDDDD but my butt is too big now and its ancient lol |

As I said I live right here within miles of Ammerman , Todd Slone and Double J it's awful to say but a lot of people here call them Double Junk, they can look pretty but the leather quality is cheap and after the years go by the pretty goes fast,(pretty is as pretty does, don't be blinded by the bling) everyone has their opinions but I would go with Ammerman or maybe a Slone over the DJ. If you ever stepped into where the different brands are made and watch you would see why. And yes the do help fit the saddle to a horse.

| I am overweight and I ride in a BMO, If you are a balanced rider you will not sore you horse!!!! and to be honest I have sored more horse with treed saddles then the one I currently ride now... JMO |

| Balance and padding seems to be more of a problem than weight. I've seen a number of heftier ladies running in Bob Marshalls and their horses do not seem distressed at all. |

If you loved the old Connie Combs you might like her new saddles. They are priced lower and affordable. Our BB Timbercreek has one, she really likes it. They aren't anything super fancy but a well fitting nice riding saddle. If you have any questions you can contact Timbercreek, she can give you more info on it. You can also look at them off Connies website. IMO Its a pretty deep seat. |
