| Help! I need to find some affordable quality joint supplements for my 2 barrel horses. One is 6 years old and the other is 12. I am open to anything, but really would prefer the oral supplements rather than the shot. But if the shots are the best thing for my horses then that's what I will do! Please, all suggestions and advice are welcome! Also, if you have had bad experiences with a particular joint supplement I would like to hear those too. Thank you!  |

Location: Texas! | Injectable Pentosan/ glucosamine is what I use and it's about $25 a dose buying it through my pharmacy. I feel more confident that they are actually benefiting from the shots rather than their gut destroying most of the oral. JMO. |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | Oxy-Gen OxyMax works on joints, lungs AND ulcers. So you get everything in one supplement. It is a pellet you put in their feed. Mine love it. They would eat it right out of my hand. I like it in a pellet bc I can see that they eat it versus some that are powdered. I feel like most of that gets wasted. |

Location: The Great Northwest | I wonder why joint supplements seem to go in fads? It seems to me that if the supplement you are on is working why would you want to change to another and risk it not being absorbed? Do they help? Those joint supplements are so expensive. After years of using the oral, you end up with other upkeep to the joint anyway. |

The thing I like though is its a complete supplement so I only have to feed 1 thing. I also don't feed 2 scoops a day as per my vet. During the off season they get 1/2 scoop a day, while in training they get 1 scoop once a day and while we're on the road they get a scoop in the a.m. and a scoop in the p.m. so when you avg it all out its cheaper than $5. I used to feed Lubrysin and did really love it but with having to mix other supplements I didn't care for that part and also the fact I can't feed it in the winter where I live since it will freeze. |

Location: Northern CO | I have used the Senior and the Combo from Smart Pak and really like them. I could tell a difference on the senior horse that I fed it to and my 7yr old is on the combo for maintenance. I have also fed others in the smart pak line with a noticeable difference such as their BreathSmart. Most come in powder or pellet form. |

Location: Oklahoma City OK | I had success with the Acti-Flex 4000 - they don't do a lot of advertising and marketing and don't sell it just everywhere, so it is very affordable. I started giving it to a Paint broodmare I had that was just sore everywhere....I was contemplating having her put down, and now she's bucking and playing with the rest of the herd. Used it on a couple others and I could tell the difference within a week of riding. |

Location: Willows, CA | A number of years ago I formulated the Flex+ product for Absorbine and helped with a 55 horse clinical trial with it. The trial had over 40,000 measurements, and to my knowledge is the most extensive flex product trial, (available from WF Young), ever made available to the public. The product really did work, and the trial clearly showed that. This product has been reformulated since then. I have no direct experience with that now. I also do not have a dog in this fight in the form of any flex type product. The closest one on the market to that original formulation that I am aware of is from Sher Mar Enterprises in their Four-Flex line. You can look it up on line. I use this on my own horses now with very positive results, and it is very fairly priced. This is not an ad, just my 2 cents worth. |

Location: Down South Mississippi | I am very sceptical, as I have tried almost everything on the block. Recently I started one gelding on Cetyl-M. Prior to starting him he had been on Injectable Glucosamine shots and Pentosin shots every other week. This gelding had bad knees and hocks. Does best turned out where he can stay moving around. If you stalled him up he always came out stiff. I tried keeping him on a low dose of Bute 2x's daily, but that didn't seem to help much unless he had a big dose, so I quit giving it to him. Quit giving the shots also, ans started the Cetyl-M exclussively. I'm hessitant to say (because remember Im a Big sceptic) But I think I'm seeing a noticable difference. I've had to stall him quite a few times lately because of the weather and he is NOT coming out of that stall stiff! I don't know if this product is what you need for a young horses' maintenace, but if you have an older one with known problems, you may want to give it a try. I'm actually thinking of putting my other gelding on it! Not cheap though! |

My 21 year old gets SmartBreathe and SmartFlex III Resilence (lower doses than the recommendations) in pelleted form. He's doing well on both and they are pretty reasonable price-wise. I like that SmartPak ships all smartpaks over $40 for free, they will do auto ship so you never run out, and any other stuff you order with a qualifying smartpak ships free. I usually order vet wrap and Sore No More as ride-alongs. They also offer several different levels of joint supplements in different price ranges so you can customize for each horse. They just offer so many different options its almost impossible to not be satisfied with them! |

| I have to say actiflex 4000 is awesome I add extra MSM some flax reasonably priced and works ! Ya'll can keep spending your money on those high priced supplements! Thumbs up for this stuff |
