Location: MN | I can't speak to their personalities but I know they perform enough that I want one! I've seen several get that we're stand outs in rodeo and futurities. If it's a nice individual and ready to ride $5k could be a steal. For a prospect probably still fair. |

| Is the horse broke, started?
I have heard western dashes can be a bit of a handful.
The 99's I seen have been gritty, have also heard, and not sure if true or not, but a lot started on the pattern early are getting chips in the knee. Probably a consequence of being gritty if it is true |

Location: Wide open spaces, Canada. | 99 goldmine is amazing but I would run far far away from anything western dash . If you want a 99 goldmine prospect call Donna Bierbach . I'm pretty sure she has some available in the price range . |

Why have you had some bad experience with them |

I have not personally rode a western dash so my opinion is third party but here's my experience. I watched a very talented pro trainer who had one this lady is an amazing trainer but the mare was horrid at a competition kept trying to run around crazy lunging through the air .... Trainer took a time only to see if she could get anywhere with her it didn't get any better ( it was kind of scary) She got off her and turned her out never rode her again , She said shed never ever even sell her to anyone else. Said shed never ever buy another western dash . Then this summer at a big race a lady was on a daughter ... I asked her about the horses breeding she told me she was a western dash and never to buy one lol. I guess the experiences are limited but it left me with enough that I don't want one. Now there are all sorts of different horses and trainers and I'm sure there are some very nice western dash horses but from those experiences I'm Leary

| We own four 99's and NOT one of them has bone chips and NOT one of them has been injected!! They all have fantastic minds! Very willing to please, want to turn, run, easy to deal with on the ground, travel well, and SMART! I would buy another one without hesitation! |

Good to hear, as I said I had heard and not sure if it was true. He has been a stud I have been thinking about breeding my judge cash mare to. |

Location: where the wind blows | I live about 3 hours from 99 and have one due in June. I've been a fan of 99 for a long time. I've heard too they are super trainable and good minded. I've never heard of soundness issues. I've seen 99 in person a few times and he is gorgeous. I can tell you when mine hits the ground this spring I'd have to think long and hard before I'd let that baby go for much less than 5000. At a sale in Sept Beirbechs offered two 99 babies for sale one went for 4500 the other 4600 or there shouts. Both went to barrel racers. I can't speak on the bottom side of the one your looking at though. Have never heard of him.

Yah, western dash is out of FDD but more importantly the dams full brother was a spectacular race horse. I sure wish I could post a photo... |

Location: Alberta, Canada | I have a son of Western Dash and have had absolutley no issues with him. I think a cross between 99 and Western Dash would give you running son-of-a-gun!!! |

Location: Sebeka, MN | I have 5 99 offspring--2 broodmares, a coming 6, a coming4 and a coming yrlg. Can't complain one bit. The coming 6 is Western Goldmine, WPRA champion futurity horse last year. The mares may have a tad more energy than the geldings. AS for the WEstern Dash--we had an own son of FG and you couldn't give me another. One left enough of a bad taste in my mouth, even though there are tons of very successful ones. |

| We have raced 6 if his colts on the track as two and three yr olds. They did great and all were competitive, all but one went on to barrel racing careers. Each is still very sound, with the exception of RC Back in Black, Jane Melby's 3 go round winner at the 2011 NFR. She had run at over a 100 rodeo's that year- prior to the NFR - and then back home had a freak accident in the pasture that ended her career - per Jane. (maybe this is what started the knee thing you had heard) They are fun to train, they are quick footed, reactive, light sided and really follow their face. I have personally rode over a dozen of them. 99 moved to Canada, but I will continue to breed my mares to him and ride his colts. When you find a stallion that stamps his colts so consistently, its easy to stick with them. A bonus is they are pretty horses that market easy. |
