Has anyone ever used it? Has it helped or did you find that there was no change in your horse?
I have a horse with Navicular and I have wanted to try feeding him Equi-bone to see if it helps him at all. He has been nerved so would that make a difference if the feed helps or not? (Horse will be 14 this spring) I'd like to help him feel more comfortable when hes not wearing shoes. He is pasture sound when he is barefoot. We are going to start using him as a practice horse for heeling and when he is wearing shoes he stays fairly sound but if he is worked a lot he will start to get a little sore.
I really need to know if it could be worth getting because I can't get it shipped to Alberta so I need to know if it will be worth my time to drive to Montana to pick some up.
I've used it. My mare broke the side bone in her left front hoof. I fed the EquiBone for a year while it healed. I believe it helped. The bone healed back very well and at the time she was also having trouble being insulin resistant...so just like a human diabetic...wounds and breaks take longer to heal. I got her weight & diet under control and fed the EquiBone and the break healed fine.
definately go get some. I used it but the rep on the phone told me to only feed beet pulp with it because the cal/phos ratio has to be a certain amount and my grain choices wouldn't work. horse did get sounder, but after 5 months he didn't want to eat beet pulp anymore so I stopped feeding it to him. The company wouldn't recommend a grain I could feed. I would have to have another MRI on his foot to see if it really helped but he has been sound for 2 yrs although he really isn't used very much due to my work schedule and only being able to ride 1 horse.
I fed it to a navicular mare. I thought it helped. We took xrays before and after a year of being on it. The xrays weren't any better but they weren't any worse either. The vet really expected her to go down hill in that time. I no longer run her so she's no longer on it.
I didn't use it on a navicular horse but mine was a hock that wouldn't fuse. I had done 2 alchol inj. an it didn't work. One year ago I started him on the equibone as directed an 2 weeks ago I took him an had it xrayed an it is completely fused an he's the soundest he's been in 3 years or more.
