| I have a 5 year old Aussie who doesn't have the best hips (Been this way since I got him from a horse auction at 10 weeks). I'd like to get him started on a joint supplement to see if that'll help him any- He's still active and plays with my other aussie, but I can tell he gets very stiff- especially after laying down for awhile.
So what do you guys use to help your pups out?  |

Location: NC | I have had my dog on Cosequin DS for about 2 or 3 months now and didn't see any improvement. I have a friend how started her dog on Finish Line and said she saw a big difference. I tried Cosequin because when I worked at a vet hospital the vets recormmended it to clients, but I didn't see a difference.... maybe my dog's case was too severe, I am not sure. |

I got a sample at a barrel race years ago. Gave it to my mom and dad to use on their dog. We saw such a great improvement that I started using it on horses. Finish Line

Location: Illinois | I have a 13 year old border collie mix and she hurt her hip 5 years ago jumping down off of some hay. So she gets pretty stiff if she's been laying down a lot. My vet recommended this (she raises Whippets and does field trials with them and has all of her seniors on this):

I saw a HUGE difference in her, and she loved the stuff, licked it right up from her bowl. I know your dog isn't a senior but they have some just joint formulas, just an idea of something else to try. Since she is older I will give her a Rimadyl every 4 days or so (or more often if she needs it) during the winter when she gets really stiff. She's about 50 lbs so my vet wrote me an online script for 100 mg ones and I just split them. |

| As long as the supplement is guaranteed in its analysis you won't go wrong with a Chrondrotin/ HA / MSM mixture. Cosequine is a good brand and been around a long time too.
I personally use Platinum Performance Canine CJ (they have all kinds of supplements) on my 9 yo Border Collie - He got nailed at a year old literally saving my life from a mamma cow and now is pretty arthritic. I already had my horses on PP so it was an easy add to the cart/ reorder on time/ etc for me. PP will also work with you if you give them a call; super knowledgeable people!

| My sister was told her Aussie needed hip surgery - he was maybe 3 at the time. She decided to put him on CMO first to see if that helped. He was a changed dog! He did not need surgery, and at 9, he's still going strong, playing with her other two dogs. This is what she used:

She called in to order and when she said she was a nurse, they gave her the "vet" discount - so the 120 hip/joint tablets for dogs is $25.25 (it's 46.25 without the discount). She sent me a copy of her order form and I just ordered CMO powder for an older mare that I have with arthritis and I was able to get the discount too. I have had my mare on this for a week and I am see improvement in her already. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I think the fact that Cosequin is on the of the oldest ones on the market still and going strong speaks for itself. I never had luck with it but every animal is different.
We started our two Aussies on Adequan two years ago, one cc a month each, and it has done wonders for both of them. |

Location: Kansas | I used to give Cosequin, but recently changed to Dasuquin per my vets new recommendation. It is suppose to be better.
He also gets a monthly Adequan shot
I have pain pills for the really bad day and give childrens aspirin for semi bad days. Fortunately those days are rare.

| Cetyl M for dogs its chewable from from response products valley vet is the cheapest. Worked for 2 dogs now. The human works great for people too. |
