Does anyone have any experience with having a mare's ovary removed that could give me any idea what the cost of having an ovary removed would be.  A friend of mine's mare has been giving us strong indications that she has a tumor on her ovary....the vet is coming to check her but said from all her symptoms she'll be surprised if doesn't find an ovary with a tumor.

We paid $2500 10 years ago on my paint mare. The tumor was too large for them to go through her flank, so she had full on colic like surgery. She had a softball size tumor on her ovary that connected to her spleen. After her surgery she was a completely different mare. The tumor was releasing testosterone into her system and she looked and acted like a stud. Thick jowels, thick neck, biting, stud-like talking, etc.
Good luck!
