| I know someone had a post about birth control and I'm thinkin it was about what was the best, but my question is for you who have quit taking it. What side effects did you experience? What didn't you experience that you had when you were on birth control? My new doctor thinks I have a hormonal imbalance linked to my birth control, and I've been wanting to quit it for sometime now but am worried because I haven't NOT been on birth control for five years and don't know how my body would react?! Thanks!

It took about a year after coming off of it and most likely allowed issues with my endometreosis but I now know that I will never go back on any. |

| Wow. I hope your problems get better! I don't think mine are as severe but I've had problems with my digestive tract that my doctor said could even be caused from this. I've had ovarian cysts and one has ruptured, I have vaginal cysts apparently from being an embryo but I'm not sure..I have a harder time losing weight more than I ever have, I gain it all in my stomach, my lower abdomen is always bloated (which could be from my digestive issues too), I have weird dark hairs on my stomach which he said are linked to hormones, and as soon as I started taking birth control the acne I had on my forehead all went to my chin and bad. I get really nauseating cramps which he said aren't normal, but he's a guy so I'm not sure if he knows completely about that because I thought it was. Lol. I get really emotional during that time and for a long time was emotional outside of that time during the month (could be from stress though). I also crave sweets ALL THE TIME. I quit taking birth control for a week about 2 months ago, I think it was, because I was waiting for it in the mail and ran out and I swear my stomach bloating went down..I'm just a little scared about quitting it. For more reasons than one! |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | When I went off of it after like 8 years, I had bad withdrawals. Migraines, hot flashes, acne at weird times. After I had my first kid, I never could find any that didn't mess me up really bad. Everything from nausea to bleeding continuously for months to swelling up my whole body. Yuck.
I was having issues a couple of years ago with my hormones being out of whack and started taking an herbal remedy called Nu Passant after meeting the guy who developed it. That stuff is amazing. A lot of people having fertility problems have used it to successfully get pregnant because it normalized your hormones and gets you cycling properly.
BTW, he told me I had 3 cysts on my left fallopian tube that were causing my problems. Don't ask me how he knew this (my gyn had already told me I had a cyst...), but he also knew my young daughter had a tilted bladder and was prone to UTIs and I didn't even ask him about her, she was just sitting on my lap.

| Wow, that's crazy! He sounds pretty amazing and so does his medicine! Lol. I hate that you had those symptoms, and I really hope that I don't experience the same...I've decided though that I'd at least like to quit taking it to see how my body will deal with it, I don't have to quit for forever! |

Location: TN | I would love to stop taking my BC, but I haven't because of a fear of that 9 month symptom thing happening lol. I recently switched pills from one that I loved (except it sometimes made me an emotional depressed mess) to one that I don't like (more acne, bloat, cravings, etc.) but I'm not quite as cranky on it so I guess I'll stick with it. I hate how the hormones in the new one make me bloat and gain weight in my stomach/love handles, but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do. |

| Well if I was past the point of having kids I would pick a more long term option such as getting my tubes tied or somethin rather! Lol. But I'm 20 and would like kids sometime so I gotta figure out somethin before then -___- It sounds dumb but my main concern has been that my lower abdomen is bloated like a balloon since my colonoscopy and changing birth control (both were in the same month). Not sure which one is the culprit but I'd like to get these unnatural hormones out of my body anyways. So I stopped it yesterday and now we wait! Does anyone use any FAM methods? |

| I had been on birth control since I was 16 and am now 34. I had never had any side effects from being on it, my period had all but disappeared...but now that I am off of it I have HORRIBLE mood swings and a severe, kicked in the gut feelings and vomiting and diarrhea when I'm on my period. It hurts so bad that even (I know, tmi) my outer labia have cramps. I thought I would enjoy being off the pill, and I kind of am because I don't WANT all those hormones doing whatever they do, but I also am not enjoying what is happening at the moment. Not to mention that I seriously want to kill my husband and stepdaughter for (not just one, but two weeks, now) the PMS week AND the period week. Sigh.
I had a bloated stomach and love handles my whole life...I have been off the pill and had no change. I stopped eating wheat and simple carbs and have lost 10 lbs of "gut weight" in a month. |

| That's ok! I've given TMI a lot on here so it's alright.lol. I hope things get better for you!! I have stopped eating bread and all that, except on an occasion and even then I try to avoid it! I'd think it was that but I never had these problems since like I said, the colonoscopy and new birth control time period...I really hope that I don't get any side effects like that although I feel at this point that I don't care because I'd like to see how my body is naturally because I have no idea what it feels like! I've been on it since I was 15, and of course I wasn't all the way mature yet. |

| And not to keep talking about the bloating but if I hold in the "pouch", as I like to call it, in..BELOW that, like my lower lower abdomen above my pelvic area and below that pouch line, sticks out so much more than the rest of my torso. I have a little bit of stomach weight to lose but can only pinch a finger full of that pouch so it doesn't stick out that much but the bloating below it makes me look like I'm in my first trimester! And I'm not pregnant by the way, because this started around two years ago. So if I was pregnant, well then I have been for two years. Lol. ANYWAYS, I have other symptoms that make my doctor think I have a hormonal imbalance and if so I'm thinking this may be apart of it...who knows but it's one of the big reasons I sought some help and more doctors appts because I've never been like that and it honestly looks abnormal to me. |

Read the book "Wheat Belly" if you have time. Or try being truly gluten free for at least a couple weeks - the symptoms you're describing could definitely be linked to a gluten intolerance. Are you tired a lot? Ever feel more bloated after eating? Fuzzy brained? |

| I was told to read that. I rarely eat wheat at all anymore. I eat clean except for on occasions. I eat vegetables, fruit, nuts, tuna, chicken, etc. I'm not horribly tired and if I am it's usually from doing homework til 2 in the morning! Lol. I don't feel too fuzzy either. I've had an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they ruled out Celiac disease which doesn't mean I don't have a gluten intolerance...it could still be a possibility! I really don't know what's wrong but hopefully this new doctor can figure it out. He's offering a lot of possibilities that no one else has. |

Sounds like you know what you're doing! My advice to you is if you're not satisfied with this doctor, go on to the next one. Never stop searching for answers - they're out there, you just have to find them! |
