Is there a difference? Supposedly Wyoming Bentonite is the best. Is Bowie Clay the same thing? Or is it mined some place else. I found Bowie Clay for $14.95 for 50 lbs back east, but do you think I can find Wyoming Bentonite? LOL I want it to mix my own mud poultices. Your help is greatly appreciated.

To partially answer my own question. Bowie clay is Bentonite. What I do not know is if it is mined in Wyoming. Maybe? Because Wyoming has 70% of the worlds bentonite deposits. Wyoming bentonite has the swelling capability of 16. Much more than bentonite mined elsewhere.

Bentonite direct Main warehouse is in Denver. They claim to have Wyoming bentonite by the pallet or the train load.

barrelhaybroker - 2014-02-06 10:00 AM What kind of poultice are you making? We use Bentonite occasionally to help seal ponds.
Leg poultice. I use and distribute a really nice cooling mud poultice but the dang stuff is getting expensive. So I came up with the brilliant idea of getting pure bentonite and mixing it with my favorite natural arinca liniment. The company in Colorado has the bentonite that I want. But the shipping is over $50, so unless I happen to be over there that won't work. haha. There are several drilling companies here, but its mostly for drilling. I don't think they have any pure bentonite.

Formula 707 has a great poultice in a powder you mix as you need it. It is a bentonite base, but has many other active ingredients. The beauty of this formula is it's always fresh! www.formula707.com

Found 25#'s of pure Wyoming Bentonite I had already ordered the Bowie Clay but this stuff was more what I was looking for. I will have altogether 75#s of bentonite. That should last me a while. LOL Now I can experiment.
